Heat shock proteins and effect of heat shock in Barley
Indian Journal of Forestry, 1998Seeds of barley (Hordeum vulgare var. dolma) were subjected to heat shocks ranging from 30-90oC for 1-6 hours duration. Heat treatments up to 60oC for 3 hours stimulated the growth of seedlings as evident by increased seedling height which is due to the synthesis of special type of proteins called “Heat Shock proteins”.
