Role of Heat Shock Protein 27 in Modulating Atherosclerotic Inflammation

Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research, 2020
Atherosclerosis is the primary cause of heart attacks, and while efforts to prevent its development or progression have historically focused largely on reducing cholesterol levels, there is now important proof-of-principle data that supports the role that inflammation plays in atherogenesis.

Heat Shock Protein 27 Expression in the Epithelium of Periapical Lesions

Journal of Endodontics, 2001
Heat shock protein (HSP) 27 is a member of the small HSP family that plays a part in the regulation of epithelial cell growth and differentiation, wound healing, apoptosis and cell protection against inflammatory cytotoxicity mediators. Thus the expression of HSP27 was investigated immunohistochemically in periapical granulomas with epithelial rests of

Expression of heat shock protein 27 in chromomycosis.

Mycoses, 1999
We report on a 58-year-old woman with long-lasting (36 years) chromomycosis on the foot and secondary self-inoculation from foot to hand 4 years ago. Mycological classification was performed after culture on Sabouraud glucose agar. We used haematoxylin and eosin and Giemsa staining and an antibody to heat shock protein (HSP) 27 (Stress Gen, Clone G3.1)

Immunohistochemical localization of heat shock protein 27 in the retina of pigs

Neuroscience Letters, 2006
The expression of heat shock protein 27 (HSP27) was examined in the retinas of pigs. Western blot analysis detected the expression of HSP27 in the retinas of 1-day-old piglets and showed that it was enhanced in the retinas of 6-month-old adult pigs. Immunohistochemically, HSP27 immunostaining was seen mainly in ganglion cell bodies in the ganglion cell

Heat shock protein 27 in neuronal survival and neurite outgrowth

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2009
The small heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27) is well documented to promote neuronal survival in neurodegenerative diseases and following nerve injury. It can directly inhibit apoptotic pathways, and as a chaperone it can ameliorate the toxic effects of misfolded proteins.

The Role of heat shock protein 27 in extravillous trophoblast differentiation

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2007
AbstractTrophoblast cells from placental explants differentiate in culture to extravillous trophoblast cells (EVT cells). During trophoblast differentiation heat‐shock‐protein‐27 (HSP27) mRNA and multidrug‐resistance‐protein‐5 (MRP5, transporter of cyclic nucleotides) expression are increased.

Specific induction of heat shock protein 27 by glucocorticoid in osteoblasts

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2002
AbstractIt is generally recognized that osteoporosis is a common complication of patients with glucocorticoid excess and that glucocorticoid receptor is associated with heat shock protein (HSP) 70 and HSP90 in a heterocomplex. In the present study, we investigated whether glucocorticoid induces HSP27, HSP70, and HSP90 in osteoblast‐like MC3T3‐E1 cells.

The potential role of heat shock protein 27 in cardiovascular disease

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2012
Heat shock proteins (Hsps) comprise several families of proteins expressed by a number of cell types following exposure to stressful environmental conditions that include heat, free radicals, toxins and ischemia, and are particularly involved in the recognition and renaturation of mis-folded proteins.

Profiling of heat shock proteins 27 and 70 in adenoids of children

European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2019
Heat shock protein (HSP)27 and 70 are molecular chaperones that may have immunomodulatory functions. We determined if and at what levels each are expressed in the adenoids of pediatric subjects. We also examined tissue distributions, associated clinical characteristics, and antibacterial effects.Western blot, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA ...

Heat shock protein 27 and cyclophilin A associate with the pathogenesis of COPD

Respirology, 2011
ABSTRACTBackground and objective:  COPD is a global disease characterized by chronic bronchitis and obstructive emphysema. Its pathogenesis is not fully understood. This study aimed to use proteomics to provide new insights into the mechanisms of COPD.Methods:  Protein lysates were prepared from lung tissue samples harvested from never‐smokers, non ...
