Post‐Translational Modifications in Cilia and Ciliopathies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes current understanding of post‐translational modifications (PTMs) in ciliary proteins and emphasizes their roles in ciliary formation, homeostasis, and signaling. This review also discusses the implication of PTM dysregulation in ciliopathies and explores therapeutic strategies targeting PTM‐modifying enzymes.

Hedgehog Signaling: An Achilles’ Heel in Cancer

open access: yesTranslational Oncology, 2019
Hedgehog signaling pathway originally identified in the fruit fly Drosophila is an evolutionarily conserved signaling mechanism with crucial roles in embryogenesis, growth and patterning. It exerts its biological effect through a signaling mechanism that

The Proteasome and Cul3-Dependent Protein Ubiquitination Is Required for Gli Protein-Mediated Activation of Gene Expression in the Hedgehog Pathway

open access: yesCells
Many cellular processes are regulated by proteasome-mediated protein degradation, including regulation of signaling pathways and gene expression. Among the pathways regulated by the ubiquitin–proteasome system is the Hedgehog pathway and its downstream ...

Control of Hedgehog Signalling by the Cilia-Regulated Proteasome

open access: yesJournal of Developmental Biology, 2016
The Hedgehog signalling pathway is evolutionarily highly conserved and essential for embryonic development of invertebrates and vertebrates. Consequently, impaired Hedgehog signalling results in very severe human diseases, ranging from holoprosencephaly ...

Targeting the Hedgehog Pathway in Pediatric Medulloblastoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancers, 2015
Medulloblastoma (MB), a primitive neuroectomal tumor of the cerebellum, is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor. The cause of MB is largely unknown, but aberrant activation of Hedgehog (Hh) pathway is responsible for ~30% of MB. Despite aggressive treatment with surgical resection, radiation and chemotherapy, 70%–80% of pediatric ...

CCN1 Enhances Tumor Immunosuppression through Collagen‐Mediated Chemokine Secretion in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CCN1 modulates the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic cancer by promoting collagen‐dependent chemokine production, thereby facilitating immune evasion. Deletion of CCN1 not only suppresses tumor growth but also enhances immune cell infiltration and increases tumor sensitivity to both chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Research progress on the role of Hedgehog signaling pathway in renal interstitial fibrosis

open access: yesLinchuang shenzangbing zazhi, 2020
Renal interstitial fibrosis is the common progressive pathway for many chronic kidney diseases. The activation of Hedgehog signaling pathway seems to play an important role in progression of chronic kidney diseases as much as in embryonic renal ...

Identification of a potent antagonist of smoothened in hedgehog signaling

open access: yesCell & Bioscience, 2021
Background Hedgehog signaling is essential to the regulation of embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, and stem cell self-renewal, making it a prime target for developing cancer therapeutics.

Complete Conjugacy Invariants of Nonlinearizable Holomorphic Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Perez-Marco proved the existence of non-trivial totally invariant connected compacts called hedgehogs near the fixed point of a nonlinearizable germ of holomorphic diffeomorphism. We show that if two nonlinearisable holomorphic germs with a common indifferent fixed point have a common hedgehog then they must commute.
