Usability of serum hedgehog signalling proteins as biomarkers in canine mammary carcinomas
Background The hedgehog signalling pathway has been implicated in tumourigenesis and progression of many tumour types. This pathway has recently emerged as a therapeutic target, and inhibitors of hedgehog signalling have gained considerable attention. In

Some properties of the nematic radial hedgehog in Landau-de Gennes' theory [PDF]
In the Landau-de Gennes theoretical framework of a $Q -tensor description of nematic liquid crystals, we consider a radial hedgehog defect with strong anchoring conditions in a ball $B \subset \mathbb{R}^3$ . We show that the scalar order parameter is monotonic, and we prove uniqueness of the minimizing hedgehog below the spinodal temperature $T^\ast$ .

Gravitational hedgehog, stringy hedgehog and stringy sphere [PDF]
We investigate the solutions of Einstein equations such that a hedgehog solution is matched to different exterior or interior solutions via a spherical shell. In the case where both the exterior and the interior regions are hedgehog solutions or one of them is flat, the resulting spherical shell becomes a stringy shell.

Abstract Background and Aims Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a deadly but poorly understood disease, and its treatment options are very limited. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular drivers of ICC and search for therapeutic targets.

Stability of the B=2 hedgehog in the Skyrme model [PDF]
We study the unstable modes of the baryon number two hedgehog of the Skyrme model on a three dimensional spatial lattice. An expansion of the Skyrme Lagrangian around the hedgehog configuration provides the equations of motion for the fluctuation fields solvable numerically via a relaxation method. We find the negative energy modes and, by evolving the

Hedgehog-lattice spin texture in classical Heisenberg antiferromagnets on the breathing pyrochlore lattice [PDF]
The hedgehog lattice, a three-dimensional periodic array of magnetic monopoles and antimonopoles, is known to be realized in the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction. Here, we demonstrate by means of Monte Carlo simulations that the hedgehog lattice is induced by not the DM interaction but frustration in classical Heisenberg ...

Hedgehog/GLI Signaling Pathway: Transduction, Regulation, and Implications for Disease
Simple Summary The Hedgehog/GLI (Hh/GLI) pathway plays a major role during development and it is commonly dysregulated in many diseases, including cancer.

The Crosstalk of mTOR/S6K1 and Hedgehog Pathways [PDF]
Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is the most prevalent esophageal cancer type in the United States. The TNF-α/mTOR pathway is known to mediate the development of EAC. Additionally, aberrant activation of Gli1, downstream effector of the Hedgehog (HH) pathway, has been observed in EAC.

On Ramsey numbers of hedgehogs [PDF]
The hedgehog $H_t$ is a 3-uniform hypergraph on vertices $1,\dots,t+\binom{t}{2}$ such that, for any pair $(i,j)$ with $1\le i

The hedgehog pathway in breast cancer [PDF]
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world with approximately 1.6 million new cases and 425 thousand deaths from the disease in 2010 (1). While early detection methods and treatment have continuously evolved and improved over the years, there is still a strong need to further understand the pathways and mechanisms that lead to and
