Sodium Current Measurements in HEK293 Cells
This protocol is used to measure sodium currents from heterologously transfected cells lines, such as HEK293 cells. Standard whole cell patch clamp technique is used to assess ion channel function. This protocol has been used to study cardiac type Nav1.5

Antioxidant Efficacy of Esculetin against Tert-Butyl Hydroperoxide-Induced Oxidative Stress in HEK293 Cells [PDF]
Esculetin is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound derived from coumarin. Oxidative stress can cause overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can lead to the development of chronic kidney failure.

M1 muscarinic receptor activation mediates cell death in M1-HEK293 cells. [PDF]
HEK293 cells have been used extensively to generate stable cell lines to study G protein-coupled receptors, such as muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs).

Expression of Large Full-Length PfEMP1 Proteins in HEK293 Cells. [PDF]
Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) is a family of proteins expressed on the surface of red blood cells infected by Plasmodium falciparum. PfEMP1 proteins play a vital role in parasite virulence, and thus are important vaccine candidates to prevent severe disease.

Scalable Production of AAV Vectors in Orbitally Shaken HEK293 Cells [PDF]
Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors are currently among the most commonly applied for in vivo gene therapy approaches. The evaluation of vectors during clinical development requires the production of considerable amounts of highly pure and potent ...

HEK293S Cells Have Functional Retinoid Processing Machinery [PDF]
Rhodopsin activation is measured by the early receptor current (ERC), a conformation-associated charge motion, in human embryonic kidney cells (HEK293S) expressing opsins. After rhodopsin bleaching in cells loaded with 11-cis-retinal, ERC signals recover in minutes and recurrently over a period of hours by simple dark adaptation, with no added ...

Distinct mechanical behavior of HEK293 cells in adherent and suspended states [PDF]
The mechanical features of individual animal cells have been regarded as indicators of cell type and state. Previously, we investigated the surface mechanics of cancer and normal stromal cells in adherent and suspended states using atomic force ...
