Rabies virus-like particles expressed in HEK293 cells
Rabies is an infectious viral disease with a mortality rate close to 100%. Currently, there is a need to generate cheaper and more immunogenic vaccines for the effective prevention of rabies, mostly in developing countries. Virus-like particles have been widely used in viral vaccine production due to their high immunogenicity and safety during the ...

Production and Purification of Zika Virus NS1 Glycoprotein in HEK293 Cells [PDF]
In this chapter, we describe production and purification of the Zika virus NS1 glycoprotein in human embryonic kidney (HEK293T) cells at small, research laboratory scale. The expression of secreted NS1 (sNS1) and the C-terminal β-ladder domain in HEK293T cells were tested in a small-scale transfection before scaling up to a larger-scale transfection ...

Human embryonic kidney cells 293 (HEK293) are widely used as cellular heterologous expression systems to study transfected ion channels. This work characterizes the endogenous expression of TRPM4 channels in HEK293 cells. TRPM4 is an intracellular Ca(2+)-

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Orai1 Expression, Mitosis and Cell Cycle Progression in HEK293 Cells [PDF]
Calcium influx is needed for cell proliferation and recent identification of Orai1 as the main constituent for both store-operated (SOCE) and non capacitative (NCCE) calcium entries led us to investigate the role of Orai1 in mitosis and cell cycle progression in HEK293 cells.

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Patulin suppresses α1-adrenergic receptor expression in HEK293 cells [PDF]
AbstractPatulin (PAT) is a common mycotoxin contaminant of apple products linked to impaired metabolic and kidney function. Adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase (AMPK), abundantly expressed in the kidney, intercedes metabolic changes and renal injury.
