Genetic characteristics analysis of the hemagglutinin gene of measles virus in Shanghai, 2001‒2018

open access: yesShanghai yufang yixue, 2022
ObjectiveTo analyze the genetic characteristics of the hemagglutinin (H) gene of measles virus (MeV) in Shanghai, 2001‒2018.MethodsNasopharyngeal swab specimens were collected from suspected measles cases reported in Shanghai from 2001 to 2018, and the ...

A Real‐Time Antifouling Multivalent Aptamer Platform for Wash‐Free Electrochemical Detection of Low‐Abundance Biomarkers in Human Plasma

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Detection of low‐abundance proteins at the point‐of‐care is key for early detection and real‐time monitoring. The clinical translation of such assays is hindered by biofouling, matrix variability, and signal instability. RT‐MagMAp assay overcomes these challenges and enables precise protein quantification in human plasma using a hierarchical assembly ...

Imprinted Anti-Hemagglutinin and Anti-Neuraminidase Antibody Responses after Childhood Infections of A(H1N1) and A(H1N1)pdm09 Influenza Viruses

open access: yesmBio, 2023
Immune imprinting is a driver known to shape the anti-hemagglutinin (HA) antibody landscape of individuals born within the same birth cohort. With the HA and neuraminidase (NA) proteins evolving at different rates under immune selection pressures, anti ...

Chlamydial hemagglutinin identified as lipopolysaccharide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1987
Chlamydial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) agglutinated mouse and rabbit erythrocytes but not human, guinea pig, or pronghorn antelope erythrocytes. Hemagglutination was not specific for Chlamydia spp., as rough LPSs from Coxiella burnetii and Escherichia coli also agglutinated erythrocytes from the same animal species.

Programmable DNA‐Peptide Hybrid Nanostructures for Potent Neutralization of Multiple Influenza a Virus Subtypes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent antiviral platform based on honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructures (HC–Urumin) is developed to enhance the potency and breadth of the host defense peptide Urumin. Through spatially patterned trimeric presentation, HC–Urumin disrupts influenza A virus entry, improves cell viability, and reduces disease severity in vivo‐offering a modular and ...

Calcium Shock Enables Efficient and Programmable Particle Delivery for Genome Editing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Classical transfection and transduction are inefficient, particularly with confluent cells and organoids, and lack cell type‐specific programmability. This study presents calcium shock (CaSh), a method that dramatically improves particle delivery into single cells, colonies, and organoids.

Sequence variation in the haemagglutinin-neuraminidase gene of human parainfluenza virus type 3 isolates in the UK [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The sequence variation in a 934 base-pair region of the gene encoding the haemagglutinin-neuraminidase of five human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV3) isolates was determined together with that of a prototype UK strain. All of the clinical isolates were

RNF213 Is an Interferon‐Stimulated Gene That Targets Influenza A Virus NP and Activates MDA5 to Restrict Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)

Altering the Immunogenicity of Hemagglutinin Immunogens by Hyperglycosylation and Disulfide Stabilization

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Influenza virus alters glycosylation patterns on its surface exposed glycoproteins to evade host adaptive immune responses. The viral hemagglutinin (HA), in particular the H3 subtype, has increased its overall surface glycosylation since its introduction
