Freeze-Dried Ham Promotes Azoxymethane-Induced Mucin-Depleted Foci and Aberrant Crypt Foci in Rat Colon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Processed and red meat consumption is associated with the risk of colorectal cancer. Meta-analyses have suggested that the risk associated with processed meat is higher. Most processed meats are cured and cooked, which leads to formation of free nitrosyl

Interactions of hemin, antimalarial drugs and hemin-antimalarial complexes with phospholipid monolayers [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1984
Hemin, antimalarial drugs and complexes formed between them, have demonstrable effects on biological membranes. Using the phospholipid monolayer model, we show that hemin intercalates into the membrane and increases its surface pressure, depending on the lipid composition and the initial surface pressure: negative surface charges and particularly ...

Abnormal Colon Polyp Image Synthesis Using Conditional Adversarial Networks for Improved Detection Performance [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access 6 (2018): 56007-56017, 2019
One of the major obstacles in automatic polyp detection during colonoscopy is the lack of labeled polyp training images. In this paper, we propose a framework of conditional adversarial networks to increase the number of training samples by generating synthetic polyp images.

Hemin availability induces coordinated DNA methylation and gene expression changes in Porphyromonas gingivalis

open access: yesmSystems, 2023
Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease in which the oral pathogen Porphyromonas gingivalis plays an important role. Porphyromonas gingivalis expresses virulence determinants in response to higher hemin concentrations, but the underlying ...

Implementation of Digital Circuits on Three-Dimensional FPGAs Using Simulated Annealing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
3D FPGAs have recently been produced as the next generation of the FPGA family to continue the integration of more transistors on a single chip seamlessly. In this paper, we propose a complete CAD flow to implement an arbitrary logic circuit on the 3D FPGA. The partitioning and placement stages of the flow are based on the simulated annealing algorithm.

Spatio‐Temporal Processes of Diffusion‐Controlled Communication in Hierarchical Multi‐Compartments

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study highlights the molecular communication of neighboring biomimetic populations in pH‐responsive hierarchically and non‐covalently organized multi‐compartments (HMC) through the assembly of micro‐ and nanocompartments. HMC unify key roles for cyclic spatio‐temporal diffusion processes and spatio‐temporal enzyme(‐like) reactions.

Hemin uptake and release by neurons and glia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hemin accumulates in intracerebral hematomas and may contribute to cell injury in adjacent tissue. Despite its relevance to hemorrhagic CNS insults, very little is known about hemin trafficking by neural cells.

Comparison of Characteristics and DNAzyme Activity of G4–Hemin Conjugates Obtained via Two Hemin Attachment Methods

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Two conjugation methods using different linkers were applied for the investigation of the spectral characteristics and activity of G-quadruplex (G4)–hemin conjugates.

Indirect Quantification of Glyphosate by SERS Using an Incubation Process With Hemin as the Reporter Molecule: A Contribution to Signal Amplification Mechanism

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
The indirect determination of the most used herbicide worldwide, glyphosate, was achieved by the SERS technique using hemin chloride as the reporter molecule.

Assessing Combinatorial Design for Analyzing System Performance of a Computer Network [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Zankoy Sulaimani- Part A, Vol. 16 (4), 2014, 2018
Generally, combinatorial design concerns with the arrangement of a finite set of elements into patterns (subsets, words, arrays) according to specified rules. The usefulness of this design method is that the number of input combination can be reduced dramatically but all of them are covered by the combinatorial set.
