A PMUT Integrated Microfluidic System for Fluid Density Sensing [PDF]
We demonstrate the design, fabrication and use of a dual electrode PMUT (Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasound Transducer) integrated with a microfluidic channel as a fluid density sensor in both static and dynamic density-change conditions. The dual electrode configuration makes the PMUT resonator a self-contained resonant peak-shift sensor and the ...

GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Nucleosome-mediated cooperativity between transcription factors [PDF]
Cooperative binding of transcription factors (TFs) to cis-regulatory regions (CRRs) is essential for precision of gene expression in development and other processes. The classical model of cooperativity requires direct interactions between TFs, thus constraining the arrangement of TFs sites in a CRR.

The definition of anemia: what is the lower limit of normal of the blood hemoglobin concentration?
The diagnosis of anemia is an important aspect of the practice of hematology. The first step is to decide whether the patient is, in fact, anemic. Unless earlier blood counts are available, and they often are not, the physician must make his or her ...

Red blood cells could protect miRNAs from degradation or loss thanks to Argonaute 2 binding
The present work investigates the presence and the stability of miRNAs into RBCs, both native and engineered. The observed stability is due to the Ago2 bound resulting in minimal RISC. Indeed, if the miRNA‐Ago2 complex is present, miRNAs are protected from release or degradation and they are biologically active. Thus, RBCs can act as miRNA carriers for

Hemoglobin Non-equilibrium Oxygen Dissociation Curve [PDF]
Abnormal hemoglobins can have major consequences for tissue delivery of oxygen. Correct diagnosis of hemoglobinopathies with altered oxygen affinity requires a determination of hemoglobin oxygen dissociation curve (ODC), which relates the hemoglobin oxygen saturation to the partial pressure of oxygen in the blood.

Combining optical diffraction tomography with imaging flow cytometry for characterizing morphology, hemoglobin content, and membrane deformability of live red blood cells [PDF]
Integrating optical diffraction tomography with imaging flow cytometry enables label-free quantifications of the three-dimensional (3D) morphology and hemoglobin content of red blood cells (RBCs) in their natural form. Self-rotation of RBCs flowing in a microfluidic channel has been utilized to achieve various projection directions for 3D ...

By impairing both function and survival, the severe reduction in oxygen availability associated with high-altitude environments is likely to act as an agent of natural selection.

We obtained potential bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase (LMCO) sequences through metagenomic sequencing. All sequences exhibited significant differences from known LMCOs in databases. To select the most promising candidates, we performed structure prediction and molecular docking using alphafold2, metal3d and rosetta.
