Effect of 5'-fluoro-2'-deoxycytidine and sodium butyrate on the gene expression of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway, p21, p27, and p53 genes expression, cell viability, and apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesAdvanced Biomedical Research, 2023
Background: Epigenetic mechanisms play an important role in the regulation of gene expression and genetic information. DNA methyltransferases are a family of enzymes that methylate DNA at the promoter region of the gene which can significantly contribute

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

METTL21A promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression via methylating and stabilizing BAG3

open access: yesnpj Precision Oncology
Protein methyltransferases regulate diverse physiological and pathological processes through histone and non-histone substrate methylation. While the role of histone methyltransferases in tumorigenesis is well-established, the contribution of non-histone

Feeding artery ablation before radiofrequency ablation for hepatocellular carcinoma may reduce critical recurrence

open access: yesJGH Open, 2021
Background and Aim Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive and curative local treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, serious concerns remain regarding critical recurrences such as metastasis, dissemination, and ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

ONC206 targeting ClpP induces mitochondrial dysfunction and protective autophagy in hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver cancer, accounting for approximately 90 % of all cases. ONC201, a member of the imipridone drug family, has shown promising therapeutic potential and a good safety profile in both malignant ...

Risk Factors for Liver Function Deterioration after Transarterial Chemoembolization Refractoriness in Child-Pugh Class A Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Gastroenterology, 2020
Background/Aims: A switch to systemic therapy, such as sorafenib, should be considered for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients refractory to transarterial chemoembolization (TACE).
