Mutation of TCF1 encoding hepatocyte nuclear factor 1α in gynecological cancer [PDF]
TCF1: (transcription factor 1) encoding hepatocyte nuclear factor 1alpha (HNF1alpha) is mutated in 50% of liver cell adenomas, a benign tumor closely associated with oral contraceptive use. These genetic alterations inactivate both alleles, leading to the absence of wild-type HNF1alpha expression in liver cell adenomas.

Macrophage‐derived MLKL in alcohol‐associated liver disease: Regulation of phagocytosis
EtOH causes leaky gut allowing bacteria and PAMPs into the liver, resulting in hepatic inflammation and injury. We demonstrate that LPS induces STAT1‐mediated expression and phosphorylation of MLKL in macrophages and identify a novel function that myeloid MLKL translocates to phagosomes and lysosomes and regulates phagocytosis, which contributes to the

All-trans retinoic acid (atRA) is used to treat certain cancers and dermatologic diseases. A common adverse effect of atRA is hypercholesterolemia; cytochrome P450 (CYP) 7A repression is suggested as a driver. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms

Simultaneous confidence intervals for the population cell means, for two-by-two factorial data, that utilize uncertain prior information [PDF]
Consider a two-by-two factorial experiment with more than 1 replicate. Suppose that we have uncertain prior information that the two-factor interaction is zero. We describe new simultaneous frequentist confidence intervals for the 4 population cell means, with simultaneous confidence coefficient 1-alpha, that utilize this prior information in the ...

Pyrroloquinoline quinone increases the expression and activity of Sirt1 and -3 genes in HepG2 cells. [PDF]
Sirtuin (Sirt) 1 and Sirt 3 are nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide ((+))-dependent protein deacetylases that are important to a number of mitochondrial-related functions; thus, identification of sirtuin activators is important. Herein, we hypothesize that

Characterization of the Human OATP-C (SLC21A6) Gene Promoter and Regulation of Liver-specific OATP Genes by Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 1α [PDF]
OATP-C (SLC21A6) is the predominant Na(+)-independent uptake system for bile salts and bilirubin of human liver and is expressed exclusively at the basolateral (sinusoidal) hepatocyte membrane. To investigate the basis of liver-specific expression of OATP-C, we studied promoter function in the two hepatocyte-derived cell lines HepG2 and Huh7 and in ...

Engineering Assembloids to Mimic Graft‐Host Skeletal Muscle Interaction
This study develops a graft‐host skeletal muscle assembloid model combining neuromuscular organoids with tissue‐engineered constructs. Pre‐seeding decellularized muscles with myogenic cells enhances cell migration and axon invasion from the organoid. The model exhibits regenerative capacity following acute damage, advancing the understanding of human ...

Identification of an endogenous ligand bound to a native orphan nuclear receptor. [PDF]
Orphan nuclear receptors have been instrumental in identifying novel signaling pathways and therapeutic targets. However, identification of ligands for these receptors has often been based on random compound screens or other biased approaches.

On confidence intervals in regression that utilize uncertain prior information about a vector parameter [PDF]
Consider a linear regression model with n-dimensional response vector, p-dimensional regression parameter beta and independent normally distributed errors. Suppose that the parameter of interest is theta = a^T beta where a is a specified vector. Define the s-dimensional parameter vector tau=C^T beta-t where C and t are specified.
