Hepatoprotective effects of Wedelia calendulacea
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 1989The alcoholic extract of whole plant Wedelia calendulacea exhibited protective activity against carbon tetrachloride-induced liver injury in vivo. The extract also increased the bile flow in rats suggesting a stimulation of liver secretory capacity. The minimum lethal dose was greater than 200 mg/kg p.o. in mice.

Hepatoprotective Ayurvedic plants – a review
Journal of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, 2016Abstract The liver plays vital functions in the maintenance and performance of the body. Most of the metabolic and physiological processes of our body as well as the detoxification of various drugs and xenobiotic chemicals occur in the liver. During this detoxification process, the reactive chemical intermediates damage the liver causing

Hepatoprotective activity of Gundelia tourenfortii
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2005Gundelia tourenfortii (L.), is used as an occasional food, and its extracts have been used for prevention and treatment of liver diseases in Iran. The effects of different concentrations of the hydroalcoholic extract of dried powdered footstalks of Gundelia tourenfortii were investigated on CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity using in vivo model in rats and ...

Study of Hepatoprotective Effects of Xymedon
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2013Xymedon (1-(β-oxyethyl)-4,6-dimethyl-1,2-dihydro-2-oxopyrimidine), a regeneratory and wound-healing drug, exhibited hepatoprotective activity in laboratory animals with experimental toxic hepatitis. Oral drug reduced the severity of toxic involvement of the liver induced by CCl4 and reduced animal mortality.

Silymarin and hepatoprotection.
Zhong nan da xue xue bao. Yi xue ban = Journal of Central South University. Medical sciences, 2013To determine the hepatoprotective effect of silymarin with Chang cell cultures. Specifically, to investigate the antioxidant properties of silymarin and its protective function in reducing pro-apoptotic markers.Intracellular free radical levels were assessed with dichlorofluorescein (DCF) fluorescence after exposing cells to an oxidative stress of 400 ...

Progress in drug research. Fortschritte der Arzneimittelforschung. Progres des recherches pharmaceutiques, 2016
The liver performs a vital role in metabolism, secretion, storage, and detoxification of endogenous and exogenous substances. Oxidative stress and free radicals enhance the severity of hepatic damage, which can be overcome by the antioxidant mechanism. Plant extracts can be the best source of such antioxidants and mediate hepatoprotective activity.

[Hepatoprotective properties of silymarin].
Eksperimental'naia i klinicheskaia gastroenterologiia = Experimental & clinical gastroenterology, 2011Different approaches to liver-specific medicines, particularly silymarin, which exist in russian and foreign hepatology leads to formation of some difficulties in their medical usage. There is a necessity to discuss classification and terminology aspects and to study study present evidence about silymarin medicines content, pharmacokinetic and ...
