Abstract BACKGROUND Obesity is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, primarily due to its effects on lipid metabolism, oxidative stress, and inflammation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of spirulina (SP) on cafeteria diet (CD)‐induced myocardial oxidative stress and inflammation using biochemical, histological, and in ...

ABSTRACT Sodium hypochlorite is a well‐established biocide extensively used in both living and industrial environments; however, exposure to it or improper handling can harm the human body and the environment. Thus, safer alternatives to sodium hypochlorite are required.

Peimine inhibits hERG potassium channels through the channel inactivation states
Fritillaria is a Chinese traditional herb. It has a long history and many medicinal usages including antitussive, anti-inflammatory and pain relieving actions. It is also used as food. However, its cardiac safety has not been tested. Peimine is one of the main active compounds of Fritillaria.

Mechanisms of IhERG/IKr Modulation by α1-Adrenoceptors in HEK293 Cells and Cardiac Myocytes
Background: The rapid delayed rectifier K+ current (IKr), carried by the hERG protein, is one of the main repolarising currents in the human heart and a reduction of this current increases the risk of ventricular fibrillation.

Potassium channel subunits encoded by the KCNE gene family: physiology and pathophysiology of the MinK-related peptides (MiRPs). [PDF]
Voltage-gated potassium channels provide tightly Controlled, ion-specific pathways across membranes and are key to the normal function of nerves muscles. They arise from the assembly of four pore-forming proteins called alpha-subunits.

Abstract Background and Purpose Aberrant activation of type 2 ryanodine receptors (RyR2) causes lethal arrhythmias, such as catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). Developing drugs that suppress RyR2 hyperactivation may be key to novel arrhythmia treatments.

A superfamily of small potassium channel subunits: form and function of the MinK-related peptides (MiRPs). [PDF]
MinK and MinK-related peptide I (MiRPI) are integral membrane peptides with a single transmembrane span. These peptides are active only when co-assembled with pore-forming K+ channel subunits and yet their role in normal ion channel behaviour is ...

Effects of cariprazine on hERG 1A and hERG 1A/3.1 potassium channels
Cariprazine is a novel atypical antipsychotic drug that is widely used for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar mania/mixed disorder. We used the whole-cell patch-clamp technique to investigate the effects of cariprazine on hERG channels that are stably expressed in HEK cells. Cariprazine inhibited the hERG 1A and hERG 1A/3.1 tail currents at -50

Abstract figure legend Overview of multiscale cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes and how to model and simulate these changes using a human‐based, multiscale computational framework. Cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes occurs at ionic channel, protein, cellular, tissue and whole‐organ level, affecting the electrophysiological function, mechanical
