Fatal Chronic Varicella‐Zoster Viral Infection in a Young Man With Chediak–Higashi Syndrome
ABSTRACT Chediak–Higashi syndrome (CHS) is a rare autosomal recessive primary immunodeficiency characterized by partial oculocutaneous albinism, neurologic involvement, and a predisposition to severe infections. Patients are particularly susceptible to developing hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), which significantly worsens prognosis. We report

HHV‐8/KSHV in Solid Organ Transplantation: Current Gaps of Knowledge and Future Directions
Risk mitigation strategies, including donors/recipients screening, DNAemia monitoring in recipients at risk, CNI‐to‐mTOR inhibitors switch, antivirals, and rituximab for KICS, may mitigate the impact of HHV‐8/KSHV infection in SOT. This review provides an update on KICS, identifies research gaps, and summarizes advances in screening and management ...

MicroRNA Regulation of Human Herpesvirus Latency
Herpesviruses are ubiquitous human pathogens. After productive (lytic) infection, all human herpesviruses are able to establish life-long latent infection and reactivate from it.

ABSTRACT Herpes simplex virus Type 1 (HSV‐1) is a prevalent infectious agent globally, often causing oral infections like gingivostomatitis. The ICP0 protein of HSV‐1 exacerbates infection severity by inhibiting antiviral responses. Our study explored how combinations of CAPE (caffeic acid phenethyl ester) and acyclovir influenced immune responses in ...

How Viruses Contribute to the Pathogenesis of Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a life-threatening, hyperinflammatory syndrome, characterized by the uncontrolled activation of macrophages and T cells, eliciting key symptoms such as persistent fever, hepatosplenomegaly, pancytopenia ...

Understanding Primate Herpesviruses
Viruses related to the herpes simplex viruses of humans are present in all nonhuman primate (NHP) species tested and cross species transmission has been documented. The herpesvirus present in macaques, Herpes B virus (BV) rarely causes disease in its natural macaque host.

RNA‐seq of lungs and livers from Mycobacterium tuberculosis ‐infected mice with distinct disease outcomes revealed organ‐specific responses driven by differences in immune activity and bacterial burden. Meta‐analysis identified orthologous genes shared with human latent TB and mouse liver, with Creb3l1, Myo7b, Cyyr1 and Cbs differentially expressed and

The role of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) mRNA modifications in herpesvirus infections
Herpesviruses, a family of large enveloped DNA viruses, establish persistent infections in a wide range of hosts. This characteristic requires an intricate network of interactions with their hosts and host cells.

Concentration of Herpesviruses [PDF]
A method has been developed for the concentration of herpesviruses by negative pressure ultrafiltration through dialysis tubing. The procedure results in high titer concentrates of unaggregated, morphologically intact viral particles with a virtually quantitative recovery of infectivity.

ABSTRACT Koi herpesvirus disease (KHVD), caused by Cyprinid herpesvirus‐3 (CyHV‐3), poses a significant threat to global aquaculture due to its high mortality rates and economic impact. Current diagnostic methods, such as PCR, are limited by equipment dependency and procedural complexity, hindering point‐of‐care (POC) applications.
