Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Power law singularity of catastrophic rupture in heterogeneous media

open access: yes, 2009
Catastrophic rupture in heterogeneous media, such as earthquake in crust, has long been a topic of scientific and societal importance. However, there has been no reliable approach to its prediction.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

A Finite Volume Method for Elastic Waves in Heterogeneous, Anisotropic and Fractured Media

open access: yesARC Geophysical Research
Numerical modeling of elastic wave propagation in the subsurface requires applicability to heterogeneous, anisotropic and discontinuous media, as well as support of free surface boundary conditions.

Wavefield Evolution and Arrival Behavior of Elastic Wave Propagation in Two-Dimensional Fractional Brownian Fields

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
The fractional Brownian field is often used to reproduce the fractal properties of complex heterogeneous media, which closely represent real-world geological materials.

A mass-conservative control volume-finite element method for solving Richards’ equation in heterogeneous porous media

open access: yes, 2011
We present a mass-conservative vertex-centred finite volume method for efficiently solving the mixed form of Richards’ equation in heterogeneous porous media.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Linear Boltzmann Equation for Solute Dispersion in Heterogeneous Media Under Non-Ergodic Conditions

open access: yesARC Geophysical Research
We study solute dispersion under non-ergodic conditions using a Boltzmann equation for the evolution of the joint distribution of the position and speed of solute particles in steady spatially heterogeneous flow fields.

Multi-Paradigm Reasoning for Access to Heterogeneous GIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Accessing and querying geographical data in a uniform way has become easier in recent years. Emerging standards like WFS turn the web into a geospatial web services enabled place.
