A Comparative Biochemical Study of Oleate Hydratases
Four oleate hydratases (Ohys) from diverse homologous families (HFams) were characterized side‐by‐side in terms of expression levels, oligomeric state, flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) affinity, thermostability, and activity. A general favorable effect of the reduction of FAD to FADH2 for Ohy activity was demonstrated, with (R)‐10‐hydroxystearic acid (

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

We developed an assay to distinguish cellular binding from internalization. Compatible with microscopy and high‐throughput screening, the method identifies ligand‐mediated uptake. Applying top candidates to a protein‐based DNA carrier enhanced transfection efficiency, providing a rational strategy to improve non‐viral gene delivery systems.

Endochitinase Overexpression in Transgenic Tomato Plants Improves Resistance to Phytopathogens
Graphical Abstract and Lay Summary Transgenic tomato plants overexpressing an endochitinase gene showed confirmed transgene expression and enhanced resistance. Upon plants inoculations with Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. perforans and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, disease severity was significantly reduced compared to wild‐type plants, demonstrating broad ...

The power of many: when genetics met yeasts and high‐throughput
ABSTRACT In recent years, complex technological capabilities have evolved, driven by the need to solve complex and integrative biological questions through global analyses. New equipment allows the scaling up and automation of processes which previously were carried out on a very limited scale.

Deep Mutational Scanning for the Study and Engineering of Protein Assemblies
This review explores how deep mutational scanning (DMS) can be used to improve understanding and accelerate engineering of protein assemblies, from natural fibers to engineered nanocages. We discuss various types of protein assemblies and their characterization, provide an introduction to the DMS technique, and then highlight examples in which DMS has ...

This study compares the humoral and cellular immunogenicity of Dose 3 of Ancestral SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccine in participants with HIV and/or following lung transplantation with healthy controls. We highlight differences along a spectrum of immunocompromise, and the value of SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccination, even in the absence of detectable neutralisation responses ...
