Dual‐Scale Transformer Fusion With Meta Learning for Micro Metastasis Detection in Thyroid Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A dual‐scale transformer model enhanced by meta‐learning enables accurate detection of tiny metastatic lesions in thyroid cancer. By combining cellular and tissue‐level features, the method outperforms existing models and shows strong adaptability to rare cases with limited data.

Clinical burden of hepatitis E virus infection in a tertiary care center in Flanders, Belgium

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is increasingly recognized as a cause of hepatitis in developed countries. A high HEV IgG seroprevalence in humans and pigs is reported as well as sporadic clinical cases of autochtonous HEV but there are ...

Does HEV‐3 subtype play a role in the severity of acute hepatitis E?

open access: yesLiver international (Print), 2019
Hepatitis E virus genotype 3 (HEV‐3) is a major aetiologic agent of acute hepatitis in industrialized countries. Two main HEV‐3 subtypes are found in Europe: subtypes 3c and 3f.

Engineering Tertiary Lymphoid Structures: Nanomedicine, Bioengineering, and Biomaterials for Precision Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review explains how biomaterials and nanoparticles can be used to induce or modulate tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), which are ectopic immune hubs that form in nonlymphoid tissues during chronic disease and cancer. By comparing different methods, the article highlights design principles for modeling TLSs or recapitulating specific TLS ...

A homing receptor-IgG chimera as a probe for adhesive ligands of lymph node high endothelial venules. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The binding of lymphocytes to high endothelial venules (HEV) within peripheral lymph nodes (pln) is thought to be mediated by a lectinlike adhesion molecule termed the pln homing receptor (pln HR). The cloning and sequencing of cDNAs encoding both murine

Prevalence and clinical consequences of Hepatitis E in patients who underwent liver transplantation for chronic Hepatitis C in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Infection with hepatitis E virus (HEV) in immunocompromised patients can lead to severe liver disease. Treatment options for HEV include peginterferon or ribavirin, routinely also used for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection ...

Decoding the Pathophysiology of Autoimmune Diseases—Mechanism, Triggers, and Nanotherapeutics: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This review highlights how autoimmune diseases arise from intertwined immunological, genetic, and environmental factors, emphasizing gut microbiota dysbiosis as a pivotal driver. It outlines emerging nanotechnology‐based strategies—such as liposomes, hydrogels, and polymeric nanoparticles—that enhance targeted drug delivery, minimize systemic toxicity,

Dengue and hepatitis E virus infection in pregnant women in Eastern Sudan, a challenge for diagnosis in an endemic area

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2014
Dengue fever and hepatitis E virus infection are both a public health problem in developing countries due to poor sanitation. Infection with viral hepatitis and dengue fever can present with similar clinical such and fever, headache and abortion.
