Genomic mapping and sequence analysis of the fowl adenovirus serotype 10 hexon gene
The gene for the major capsid protein (hexon) of fowl adenovirus serotype 10 (FAV-10) has been identified by the use of the expression vector pGEX and rabbit polyclonal antisera raised against FAV-10. The nucleotide sequence of the entire hexon gene has been determined.

Bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps) are popular pets in the United States. Agamid Adenovirus 1 (AgAdV1) is an important infectious agent of bearded dragons. The only AgAdV1 sequences available to date are from a highly conserved region of the DNA polymerase gene.

The hexon genes of adenoviruses of subgenus C: comparison of the variable regions
Research in Virology, 1993We report on a 1402-base pair long DNA sequence, encoding for the variable region and parts of the flanking conserved regions of the human adenovirus type 1 (AV1) hexon, and a DNA sequence comprising 1396 base pairs, encoding for the corresponding regions of the human adenovirus type 6 (AV6) hexon.

The location of the genes coding for hexon and fiber proteins in adenovirus DNA
Cell, 1975A serological analysis has been made of the capsid antigens hexon and fiber from 17 Ad5-Ad2+ND1 recombinants that enables us to determine the phenotype of the recombinants. By correlation of this data with the genetic and physical maps of the adenovirus genome, obtained by recombination and restriction endonuclease analysis, the genes coding for the ...

Hexon Gene Switch Strategy for the Generation of Chimeric Recombinant Adenovirus
Human Gene Therapy, 2002The usefulness of adenovirus as a vehicle for transgene delivery is limited greatly by the induction of neutralizing anti-adenoviral immunity following the initial administration, thereby resulting in shorter-term and reduced levels of transgene expression.

To investigate the possible causes of the massive spread of fowl adenovirus (FAdV) infection among chickens in recent years in China, 32 batches of live-virus vaccines were tested for contamination with FAdV by PCR. Among these, 1 live Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccine of the LaSota strain was demonstrated to be positive for contamination.

Identification, cloning and sequence analysisof the equine adenovirus 1 hexon gene
Archives of Virology, 1997Based on sequence homology with human adenovirus 2 (HAdV2), the hexon gene of equine adenovirus 1 (EAdV1) was identified. HindIII restriction fragments containing the hexon and other viral genes were cloned into the plasmids pUC19 and pBlueScript SK(-) and sequenced.

Evolutionary relationships of the hexon and penton base genes of novel squirrel adenovirus
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2017Squirrel adenovirus (SqAdV) was reported previously. However, only partial sequences of its hexon and polymerase genes have been revealed. For the first time, we report the full-length genome of SqAdV including the complete hexon and penton base genes.

Molecular typing of human adenoviruses by PCR and sequencing of a partial region of the hexon gene
Archives of Virology, 2006Human adenoviruses (Ads) are responsible for a substantial disease burden. Type-specific identification of Ads can help guide therapeutic and disease prevention strategies and aid epidemiological investigations. Immunotyping of Ads by serum neutralization (SN) is laborious and time consuming and depends upon type-specific antisera that are in short ...

The universal primer sets for identification of human adenovirus (HAdV) targeting hexon gene were designed and applied to 121 clinical samples suspected of HAdV infection. The primer sets amplified at least 20 HAdV reference strains of six species. Of these clinical samples, 81 (66.9%) samples were positive for HAdV.
