Assessing Cognitive Functioning in Children With Brain Tumors: Interaction of Neighborhood Social Determinants of Health and Neurological Risk

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study investigated how neighborhood‐level social determinants of health (SDOH), including redlining and neurological risk, interact to influence cognitive outcomes in children treated for brain tumors (CTBT). Methods A retrospective chart review of 161 CTBT aged 5–17 was conducted.

Planetary landing: modelling and control of the propulsion descent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the propulsive phase, after parachute release, of planetary landing like Mars or Moon, horizontal motion is obtained by tilting the axial thrust, so that it aligns either to the negative velocity vector (gravity turn) or to the requested acceleration ...

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Containment control of multiple unmanned surface vessels with NN control via reconfigurable hierarchical topology

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2023
This paper investigates the containment control of multiple unmanned surface vessels with nonlinear dynamics. To solve the leader-follower synchronization problem in a containment control system, a hierarchical control framework with a topology ...
