Gallate, the component of HIF-inducing catechins, inhibits HIF prolyl hydroxylase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2006
Catechins have recently been reported to increase the cellular content of the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1alpha within mammalian cells. These catechins have a gallate moiety as a common structure. We now report that n-propyl gallate (nPG) also increases the HIF-1alpha protein in the rat heart-derived H9c2 cells.

Structure of HIF

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1982
The triatomic, inorganic free radical of unknown structure, HIF, is characterized by ab initio correlated many-body theory. The calculations show that HIF has a bond angle of 137.5±3°, bond lengths R(HI) = 1.64±0.5 Å and R(IF) = 2.04±0.5 Å, and a ground state of 2A′ symmetry.

Erythropoiesis—once more HIF!

Blood, 2008
In this issue of Blood , Yamashita and colleagues provide evidence for additional oxygen-dependent regulation of erythropoiesis through HIF-2α–controlled expression of vascular adhesion molecule-1 in endothelial cells of the bone marrow microenvironment.

Abstract 3945: HIFs regulate alternative splicing of HIF target genes

Cancer Research, 2012
Abstract Alternative splicing is the process in which identical pre-mRNA molecules are spliced in different ways, allowing individual gene to express multiple mRNAs or isoforms that encode proteins with diverse and even antagonistic functions.

Cell cycle regulation by HIF-1α and HIF-2α

2009
Cell cycle is an essential process of the cellular life as it provides the ability to the cell to produce exact replicas of itself. This process has to be performed with high accuracy for cells, tissues and organisms to propagate properly. The molecular machinery responsible for the precision and correct timing of the cell cycle consists of a network ...
