Investigation of aerodynamic performance of high-speed train by detached eddy simulation

open access: yes, 2012
The detached eddy simulation (DES) is employed to study the flows around the high speed train at speed of 500km/h. Its object is to evaluate the aerodynamic performance. As we know, for high speed trains at speeds bigger than 250 km/h, most (about 75-80%)

Lambertian source modelling of free space optical ground-to-train communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is a increasing demand for high speed data services while travelling on trains and other means of public transportation. Hence, an alternative technology to radio frequency (RF) communications called free space optics (FSO) could be used to provide

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Three-dimensional aerodynamic optimization design of high-speed train nose based on GA-GRNN

open access: yes, 2012
With the speed upgrade of the high-speed train, the aerodynamic drag becomes one of the key factors to restrain the train speed and energy saving.
