Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Electrical Circuit Flashover Model of Polluted Insulators under AC Voltage Based on the Arc Root Voltage Gradient Criterion

open access: yes, 2012
In order to study the flashover mechanism of polluted insulators under AC voltage, a new arc propagation criterion which is based on an arc root voltage gradient is proposed.

INVESTIGATION OF LOSSES IN INSULATION OF HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER CABLES WITH XLPE INSULATION

open access: yesElectrical Engineering & Electromechanics, 2016
In this paper the authors calculate the losses in insulation system cable with XLPE-polyethylene as a solid dielectric insulation and with semiconductor polyethylene used as a conductor screen and a insulation screen. The paper is devoted to the investigation of losses in the insulation system of high- voltage XLPE-cables.

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Influence Analysis and Prediction of ESDD and NSDD Based on Random Forests

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
Equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) and non-soluble deposit density (NSDD) measurements are a basic requirement of power systems. In order to predict the site pollution severity (SPS) of insulators, a new method based on random forests (RFs) is ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Multilayer High-Gradient Insulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
High voltage systems operated in vacuum require insulating materials to maintain spacing between conductors held at different potentials, and may be used to maintain a nonconductive vacuum boundary.
