High efficiency architecture of ESCOT with pass concurrent context modeling scheme for scalable video coding [PDF]

open access: yes
[[abstract]]In this work, we propose a high efficiency hardware architecture of embedded sub-band coding with optimal truncation (ESCOT) with pass concurrent context modeling (PCCM) scheme for wavelet-based scalable video coding (SVC). PCCM can merge the

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Plasma-electrolyte chemical-thermal treatment of hard alloy

open access: yesNext Materials
The possibility of using of plasma-electrolytic treatment for the hard-alloy material surface complex modification, which consists of simultaneous diffusion saturation, heat treatment and plasma-electrochemical polishing of the surface, is shown.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Cavity enhanced storage - preparing for high efficiency quantum memories

open access: yes, 2013
Cavity assisted quantum memory storage has been proposed [PRA 82, 022310 (2010), PRA 82, 022311 (2010)] for creating efficient (close to unity) quantum memories using weakly absorbing materials.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Wheat TaTIFY3B and TaTIFY10A play roles in seed germination and abiotic stress responses in transgenic Arabidopsis and rice

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Seed germination is a key process in the plant life cycle that affects the vegetative and reproductive stages of plants. Although the JAZ gene family has been characterized in many plants, the relationship between the JAZ gene and seed ...
