Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Improving E-Commerce Recommendations using High Utility Sequential Patterns of Historical Purchase and Click Stream Data

open access: yes, 2021
Recommendation systems not only aim to recommend products that suit the taste of consumers but also generate higher revenue and increase customer loyalty for e-commerce companies (such as Amazon, Netflix).

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Fast Single Pbase Algoritbm for Utility Mining in Big Data

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2015
Most of the latest works on utility mining generates a huge number of candidates in dealing with big data, which suffers from the scalability issue. Some work does not generate candidates, but suffers from the efficiency issue due to lack of strong pruning ...

What I see, what you say: How cross‐method variation sharpens characterization of irritability in early childhood

open access: yesInternational Journal of Methods in Psychiatric Research
Objectives Identification of clinically significant irritability in preschool age is important to implement effective interventions. However, varying informant and measurement methods display distinct patterns.

Non-expected Utility, Saving, and Portfolios [PDF]

open access: yes
Existing findings suggest that standard, frictionless, expected-utility models have difficulty accounting for average and for median holdings of wealth and of risky assets, partly as a result of the largely unexplained limited proportion of stockholders ...

An Efficient Closed-Set Lattice Approach for Mining Closed High Utility Patterns in the Incremental Database

open access: yes, 2021
The utility of an itemset is the product of the profit and the frequency of the itemset in the database. If the utility of the itemset is larger than the given threshold, the itemset is defined as the high utility pattern.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
