Histamine receptors in GtoPdb v.2021.3

open access: yes, 2021
Histamine receptors (nomenclature as agreed by the NC-IUPHAR Subcommittee on Histamine Receptors [80, 173]) are activated by the endogenous ligand histamine. Marked species differences exist between histamine receptor orthologues [80]. The human and rat

Paternal Circadian Disruption Impairs Offspring Cognition via Sperm microRNAs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal circadian disruption remodels the sperm small RNA payload, elevating miR‐92a‐3p/miR‐25‐3p levels and perturbing early embryonic gene regulatory programs. Microinjection experiments and single‐embryo transcriptomics reveal sex‐specific developmental vulnerabilities, ultimately impairing offspring hippocampal synaptic plasticity and cognition ...

Methamphetamine- and 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine–Induced Behavioral Changes in Histamine H3–Receptor Knockout Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2009
Histamine H3 receptors inhibit the release of not only histamine itself, but also other neurotransmitters including dopamine. Previous papers have reported that histaminergic neurons inhibit psychostimulant-induced behavioral changes.

Changes in Histamine Receptors (H1, H2, and H3) Expression in Rat Medial Vestibular Nucleus and Flocculus after Unilateral Labyrinthectomy: Histamine Receptors in Vestibular Compensation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Vestibular compensation is the process of behavioral recovery following peripheral vestibular lesion. In clinics, the histaminergic medicine is the most widely prescribed for the treatment of vertigo and motion sickness, however, the molecular mechanisms

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

Highly potent, selective acylguanidine-type histamine H2 receptor agonists: synthesis and structure-activity relationships

open access: yes, 2008
Potent and selective histamine H2 receptor (H2R) agonists are valuable pharmacological tools and might be of therapeutic value as drugs, for example in the treatment of severe congestive heart failure.

Endoplasmic Reticulum Geometry Dictates Neuronal Bursting via Calcium Store Refill Rates and Exposes Selective Neuronal Vulnerability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ER's continuous tubular network is maintained by ER‐shaping proteins whose mutation or dysregulation contributes to neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we show that ER morphology sets the speed of Ca2+ store replenishment between firing events. Disrupting ER continuity slows intra‐ER Ca2+ redistribution from extracellular refill (SOCE) sites, driving

A Synergistic Hydrogel‐Microalgae Platform for Dual‐Targeting of Intestinal and Neuroimmune Dysfunction in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioactive hydrogel incorporating Chlorella vulgaris and paeoniflorin within a carboxymethyl chitosan/sodium alginate matrix cross‐linked with genipin is developed for inflammatory bowel disease therapy. The hydrogel exhibits gastric stability and intestine‐responsive release.
