Classification of Platelet‐Activating Anti‐Platelet Factor 4 Disorders

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The prototypic anti‐platelet factor 4 (PF4) disorder—heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia and thrombosis (HITT)—features immunoglobulin G (IgG) class antibodies that activate platelets, monocytes, and neutrophils in a mainly heparin‐dependent fashion via Fcγ receptor‐dependent cellular activation.

Comparative analysis of the molecular starvation response of Southern Ocean copepods

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract Large lipid‐storing copepods dominate mesozooplankton biomass in the polar oceans and form a critical link between primary production and higher trophic levels. The ecological success of these species depends on their ability to survive periods of food deprivation in a highly seasonal environment, but the molecular changes that mediate ...

PorA of the Type IX Secretion Is a Ligand of the PorXY Two‐Component Regulatory System in Porphyromonas gingivalis

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Porphyromonas gingivalis exports several virulent proteins, including gingipain proteinases, via the type 9 secretion system. Expression of several T9SS component proteins is regulated by the PorA‐PorY‐PoX‐SigP signaling cascade. This study presents a novel role of PorA in the signaling cascade.

Genome‐Wide Analysis of DtxR and HrrA Regulons Reveals Novel Targets and a High Level of Interconnectivity Between Iron and Heme Regulatory Networks in Corynebacterium glutamicum

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
Iron is essential for life, yet excessive levels can quickly lead to cellular damage via oxidative stress, underscoring the need for global regulators of iron and heme homeostasis. In this study, we present a genome‐wide analysis of the binding patterns of DtxR and HrrA in Corynebacterium glutamicum.
