Generation of major histocompatibility complex class I antigens

Microbes and Infection, 2003
Presentation of antigenic peptides by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on the surface of antigen-presenting cells is an effective extracellular representation of the intracellular antigen content. The intracellular proteasome-dependent proteolytic machinery is required for generating MHC class I-presented peptides.

ALLOSPECIFIC MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES RECOGNIZING RAT CLASS I AND CLASS II HISTOCOMPATIBILITY ANTIGENS

Transplantation, 1982
Rat-mouse hybridomas have been developed producing monoclonal antibodies which recognize rat major histocompatibility complex specificities. Splenic lymphocytes from a LEW (RT1l) rat alloimmunized against ACI (Rt1a) splenocytes were used for hybridoma production.

Antigen Presentation by Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I-B Molecules

Annual Review of Immunology, 1994
Class I-b genes constitute the majority of MHC class I loci. These monomorphic or oligomorphic molecules have been described in many organisms; they are best characterized in the mouse, which contains a substantial number of potentially intact genes.

The rat placenta expresses paternal class I major histocompatibility antigens

Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1986
The expression of paternally inherited class I MHC antigens on the placental trophoblast of the rat has been investigated using a mouse anti-rat monoclonal antibody (MN4-91-6) in an indirect immunoperoxidase labelling assay on cryostat sections. Strong specific staining was obtained on the spongy zone trophoblast of the mature placenta from DA male ...

Post-proteasomal antigen processing for major histocompatibility complex class I presentation

Nature Immunology, 2004
Peptides presented by major histocompatibility complex class I molecules are derived mainly from cytosolic oligopeptides generated by proteasomes during the degradation of intracellular proteins. Proteasomal cleavages generate the final C terminus of these epitopes.

Presentation of Exogenous Antigen with Class I Major Histocompatibility Complex Molecules

Science, 1990
Soluble antigens (Ags) in the extracellular fluids are excluded from the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-restricted pathway of Ag presentation in most cells. However, an exogenous Ag can be internalized, processed, and presented in association with class I MHC molecules on specialized Ag-presenting cells (APCs).

Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Antigens Expressed on Rat Trophoblast Cells

American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1990
ABSTRACT: There is controversy about the size of the major histocompatibility complex antigens of trophoblast cells from placenta. There are some reports that the heavy chains of these molecules are smaller (39–43 kd) than those of the classical class I antigens (45–46 kd), while there are others which show that both the light and the heavy forms of ...

Invasive equine trophoblast expresses conventional class I Major Histocompatibility Complex antigens

Development, 1990
Abstract Monoclonal antibodies and alloantisera were used in an indirect immunohistochemical assay to determine the expression of class I and class II Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) antigens by equine placental cells and the endometrial tissues at the fetal-maternal interface.

ANTIGEN PROCESSING AND PRESENTATION BY THE CLASS I MAJOR HISTOCOMPATIBILITY COMPLEX

Annual Review of Immunology, 1996
▪ Abstract  Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules bind peptides derived from cellular proteins and display them for surveillance by the immune system. These peptide-binding molecules are composed of a heavy chain, containing an antigen-binding groove, which is tightly associated with a light chain (β2-microglobulin).

Beta-2-Microglobulin of Rat Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Antigens

International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 1989
Detection of the β2-microglobulin (β2m) component of the rat MHC class I antigens has been difficult. In the present report, we have addressed this issue by a systematic study of rat class I antigens from red blood cells or from lymphocytes that were freshly isolated or cultured in the presence of ...
