Expression of Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Antigens in Porcine Leptospiral Nephritis
Veterinary Pathology, 2009Class II major histocompatibility complex (MHCII) is required for the presentation of antigens to CD4 helper T cells. During nephritis, not only primary antigen presenting cells such as histiocytes and lymphocytes, but also cytokine-stimulated tubular epithelial cells express MHCII.

Studies on the Interaction of T Cells with Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Antigens
Clinical Science, 19951. Major histocompatibility complex class II antigens have the central role in the immune response of ‘presenting’ antigenic peptide to CD4+ T-cells. This interaction with a T-cell's receptor may result in activation, but, if recognition occurs without collateral molecular interactions which cause ‘co-stimulation’, these T-cells will be tolerized.

Three-dimensional structure of the human class II histocompatibility antigen HLA-DR1 [PDF]
The three-dimensional structure of the class II histocompatibility glycoprotein HLA-DR1 from human B-cell membranes has been determined by X-ray crystallography and is similar to that of class I HLA. Peptides are bound in an extended conformation that projects from both ends of an 'open-ended' antigen-binding groove.

AbstractBiochemical and functional studies have demonstrated major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II‐restricted presentation of peptides derived from cytosolic proteins, but the underlying processing and presentation pathways have remained elusive.

The concept of an immunopathogenesis in the establishment and progression of the recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) lesion is well accepted. In this study the expression of Class I and Class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigens on the ...

Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Antigen Presentation in Hodgkin's Disease
Leukemia & Lymphoma, 1999The malignant cells in Hodgkin's disease (HD), commonly referred to as Hodgkin and Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells, express major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules and, like "professional" antigen-presenting cells (APCs), different accessory or costimulatory molecules which can provide an additional activation signal to T cells.

Abstract Background. Expression of various class II MHC antigens by lesional keratinocytes may play an important role in the pathophysiology of a wide variety of human dermatoses including cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL). Nevertheless, there is relatively little information available concerning the concurrent expression of HLA‐DR, ‐DP, and ‐DO class ...

Intrathyroidal Mast Cells Express Major Histocompatibility Complex Class-II Antigens
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 1989We studied the expression of major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class-II antigen in mast cells of rat thyroid glands. In the normal rat thyroid, mast cells express MHC class-II antigen. In BioBreeding Wistar (BB/W) rats, the strain of animals prone to develop spontaneous autoimmune thyroiditis, the number of MHC class-II-positive mast cells was ...

Human retroplacental sera inhibit the expression of class II major histocompatibility antigens
Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 1986Since factor(s) present in human pregnancy sera may interfere with HLA-DR expression on antigen-presenting cells which could account for fetal immune tolerance, we decided to investigate HLA-DR expression on the human myeloid macrophage cell line U937 using the monoclonal antibody RF DR2 and flow cytometry.
