Exploring the impact of Cabotegravir‐Rilpivirine long‐acting on weight gain, body composition and quality of life in adults living with HIV

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Long‐acting injectable antiretroviral therapy (ART) with Cabotegravir (CAB) and Rilpivirine (RPV) offers an alternative to daily oral regimens, improving adherence and patient satisfaction. However, its impact on body composition and metabolism remains underexplored.

Recent discoveries in HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Pharmacology, 2020
HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors (RTIs) are indispensable components of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), which has achieved great success in controlling AIDS epidemic in reducing drastically the morbidity and mortality of HIV-infected patients.

HIV-1 Protease, Reverse Transcriptase, and Integrase Variation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2016
ABSTRACT HIV-1 protease (PR), reverse transcriptase (RT), and integrase (IN) variability presents a challenge to laboratories performing genotypic resistance testing. This challenge will grow with increased sequencing of samples enriched for proviral DNA such as dried blood spots and increased use of next-generation sequencing (NGS ...

Virological outcomes with Bictegravir/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF) in people previously treated with darunavir‐based antiretroviral therapy

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Darunavir‐based antiretroviral therapy (ART) is commonly used in people with HIV who experience adherence challenges and/or have complex resistance patterns. Changes in ART commissioning have led to an increased use of Bictegravir/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir alafenamide (B/F/TAF) in these populations despite limited real‐world outcome ...

HTLV-1 reverse transcriptase homology model provides structural basis for sensitivity to existing nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors

open access: yesVirology Journal
The human T-lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) infects millions of people globally and is endemic to various resource-limited regions. Infections persist for life and are associated with increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections and severe ...

The Role of NLRP1, AIM2 and MEFV Inflammasomes in the High‐Intensity Interval Training of Individuals With Obesity

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
This study shows that 8 weeks of high‐intensity interval training (HIIT) modulate inflammasome‐related gene expression in individuals with obesity. HIIT increased AIM2, MEFV, CARD16 and CARD18 expression, with CARD16 upregulation supporting reduced inflammation through inhibition of caspase‐1 activation and lower IL‐1β levels.

Prevalence of genotypic HIV-1 drug resistance in Thailand, 2002

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical Microbiology and Antimicrobials, 2003
Background The prices of reverse transcriptase (RT) inhibitors in Thailand have been reduced since December 1, 2001. It is expected that reduction in the price of these inhibitors may influence the drug resistance mutation pattern of HIV-1 among infected

EFFICACY OF COMBINED THERAPY IN CHILDREN WITH HIV INFECTION

open access: yesПедиатрическая фармакология, 2010
To achieve a sustainable virus replication suppression, positive dynamics in clinical and immunologic metrics of children with HIV infection, it is necessary to use the most efficient, safe and convenient patterns of highly active antiretroviral therapy.
