Autoinflammation and HLA-B27: Beyond Antigen Presentation [PDF]

open access: yesOcular Immunology and Inflammation, 2016
HLA-B27 associated disorders comprise a group of inflammatory conditions which have in common an association with the HLA class I molecule, HLA-B27. Given this association, these diseases are classically considered disorders of adaptive immunity. However, mounting data are challenging this assumption and confirming that innate immunity plays a more ...

Hla‐c locus antigens in hla‐b27 associated arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesArthritis & Rheumatism, 1978
AbstractFrequecies of the HLA‐C locus antigens, Cw 1, Cw2, Cw3, and Cw4, were determined in 88 patients with spondylitic diseases and 88 matched and 64 B27‐positive normal controls. Both Cw1 and Cw2 were significantly increased in B27‐positive patients and B27‐positive controls as compared to B27‐negative patients and matched controls.

Mimicry of human histocompatibility HLA-B27 antigens by Klebsiella pneumoniae [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1986
Anti-HLA-B27 monoclonal antibody M2, which was relatively specific for human histocompatibility antigen HLA-B27, was used to test several bacteria, some of which could potentially induce chronic arthritis in HLA-B27-positive individuals. Using the Western blot procedure, we observed positive reactions with 80,000- and 60,000-dalton antigens with one ...

Genetic modulation of antigen presentation by HLA-B27 molecules. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of experimental medicine, 1992
In studies of antigenic peptide presentation, we have found a healthy volunteer whose lymphoblastoid cells were unable to present three different virus-derived epitopes to cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) despite expressing the correct restricting HLA-B27 molecules on the cell surface. B cell lines were established from other members of the donor's family,

Clinical characteristics of patients with spondyloarthritides and HLA-B27 positive antigen.

open access: yesCollegium antropologicum, 2011
The aim of this study was to present our experiences in diagnosing spondyloarthritides (SpA), and to list the most common clinical features of HLA-B27 positive patients. The study included 65 HLA-B27 positive patients with confirmed diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) who were analyzed between 2009 and 2010 in Clinic ...

HLA-B27 (antigen) in retroperitoneal fibrosis in a family

open access: yesArchives of Medical Science, 2007
Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis is a rare disease of undetermined aetiology. It is important to distinguish this entity from retroperitoneal fibrosis secondary to malignancy or specific inflammatory disease. There have been no prior means of excluding this condition without surgical exploration and histopathologic study of the excised tissue.
