Pathogenesis of Chemical Leukoderma and Chemical‐Induced Vitiligo

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Leukoderma/vitiligo is a serious pigmentary disorder that notably impairs the patient's quality of life. In particular, chemical leukoderma (CL)/vitiligo refers to acquired depigmentation of the skin induced by exposure to certain chemicals. In this review, the term “CL” is defined as the temporary, localized loss of pigmentation at the site ...

Vessel‐associated microglia are differentially activated and distributed in relation to systemic infection and Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
This post‐mortem study revealed an increased density of vessel‐associated microglia (VAM) in the temporal lobe in systemic infection and Alzheimer's disease. VAM density was related to brain cytokine levels and markers of cerebrovascular dysfunction and BBB leakage indicating that activated VAM contributes to neurovascular injury in Alzheimer's disease.

Alterations of immune response of non-small lung cancer with azacytidine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Innovative therapies are needed for advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). We have undertaken a genomics based, hypothesis driving, approach to query an emerging potential that epigenetic therapy may sensitize to immune checkpoint therapy targeting

Tumor Microenvironments in Malignant Ovarian Germ Cell Tumors: MHC Class I Loss and T‐Cell Exhaustion in Dysgerminoma

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Malignant ovarian germ cell tumor subtypes exhibit distinct tumor microenvironments. Dysgerminomas harbor abundant nonexhausted T cells, with progenitor exhausted T cells present in 60% of PD‐1–positive cases. However, MHC class I expression is lost across all analyzed subtypes, suggesting that restoring class I expression in dysgerminomas may enhance ...
