Analysis of HLA-E expression in human tumors
Immunogenetics, 2003Downregulation of MHC class Ia molecule expression is a widespread mechanism used by tumor cells to escape antitumor T-cell-mediated immune responses. However, it is not known why NK cells cannot lyse these MHC class-Ia-deficient tumor targets. Tumors must select additional routes of escape from NK cells.

Some reports showed the immune tolerance of soluble human leukocyte antigen E (HLA-E), but the role that soluble HLA-E plays in gastric cancer (GC) is unknown. We aimed to clarify the molecular mechanism and clinical significance of soluble HLA-E in GC.We examined the expression of HLA-E on GC cells and soluble HLA-E under co-culture with natural ...

Involvement of position-147 for HLA-E expression
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2006HLA-E functions as an inhibitory signaling molecule of natural killer (NK) cell-mediated cytolysis. However, the cell surface expression of HLA-E molecules is quite restricted because of the limited repertoire of binding peptide sequences, such as signal peptides of other HLA molecules, especially on xenogeneic cells.

HLA‐E polymorphism in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Tissue Antigens, 2004Abstract: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has been known to be associated with HLA class I region. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between HLA‐E and genetic susceptibility to nasopharyngeal carcinogenesis by comparing the frequencies of HLA‐E alleles in 100 Thai NPC patients and 100 healthy controls.

HLA-G and HLA-E: fundamental and pathophysiological aspects
Immunology Today, 2000Abstract The First International Conference on HLA-G, held in 1998, led us to the conclusion that HLA-G is a tolerance molecule from the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) that plays an important role in maternal–fetal tolerance and probably in tumors and transplantation.

A Chinese leukemia patient, typed as HLA‐E*01:01:01:11, a novel HLA‐E allele
HLA, 2019There is a single nucleotide different in intron 1 between E*01:01:01:01 and E*01:01:01:11.

BACKGROUNDHuman leukocyte antigen‐E (HLA‐E) is a nonclassical major histocompatibility complex class I molecule that recently came into sharper focus as a putative marker of advanced tumor stages and disease progression. In solid tumors, increased HLA‐E expression as well as elevated soluble HLA‐E (sHLA‐E) plasma levels are associated with a poor ...
