Crystallization of Sendai virus HN protein complexed with monoclonal antibody Fab fragments
Virology, 1989The hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) protein of Sendai virus has been isolated from virus particles in a biologically active soluble form after removal by proteolytic digestion of the hydrophobic amino-terminal anchor sequence (S. D. Thompson, W. G. Laver, K. G. Murti, A. Portner, J. Virol., 62, 4653-4660, 1988).

HN Protein of Newcastle Disease Virus Induces Apoptosis Through SAPK/JNK Pathway
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2015Many viral proteins are responsible for causing induction of apoptosis in the target cells. Hemagglutinin neuraminidase (HN), a multifunctional protein of Newcastle disease virus (NDV), is one of such proteins. The present study was undertaken to determine the apoptotic potential of the HN gene in cultured human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa cell ...

Efficient sequential assignments in proteins with reduced dimensionality 3D HN(CA)NH
Journal of Biomolecular NMR, 2012We present reduced dimensionality (RD) 3D HN(CA)NH for efficient sequential assignment in proteins. The experiment correlates the (15)N and (1)H chemical shift of a residue ('i') with those of its immediate N-terminal (i - 1) and C-terminal (i + 1) neighbors and provides four-dimensional chemical shift correlations rapidly with high resolution.

Botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) is one of the most potent toxins known. BoNT is also a food poison, which means that the toxin must survive the protease action and acidity of the gut. A group of neurotoxin-associated proteins which are only beginning to be identified and characterized are believed to be responsible for this protection.

Fusion of Sendai virus with liposome depends on only F protein, but not HN protein
Virus Research, 1999Sendai virus is able to fuse with liposomes even without virus receptors. To determine the roles of envelope protein, hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) and fusion (F) protein, in Sendai virus-liposome fusion, we treated the virus with proteases and examined its fusion with liposomes and the conditions of HN and F protein.

BEST-HNN and 2D-(HN)NH experiments for rapid backbone assignment in proteins
Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2010HNN has proven to be an extremely valuable experiment for rapid and unambiguous backbone (H(N), (15)N) assignment in ((13)C, (15)N) labeled proteins. However, low sensitivity of the experiment is often a limiting factor, especially when the transverse relaxation times (T(2)) are short. We show here that BEST modification Schanda et al.

Reduced dimensionality 3D HNCAN for unambiguous HN, CA and N assignment in proteins
Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2012We present here an improvisation of HNN (Panchal, Bhavesh et al., 2001) called RD 3D HNCAN for backbone (HN, CA and (15)N) assignment in both folded and unfolded proteins. This is a reduced dimensionality experiment which employs CA chemical shifts to improve dispersion. Distinct positive and negative peak patterns of various triplet segments along the

HN protein of Newcastle disease virus causes apoptosis in chicken embryo fibroblast cells
Archives of Virology, 2008Newcastle disease virus (NDV), an avian paramyxovirus, induces apoptosis in chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cells. In the present investigation, the ability of haemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) protein of NDV to cause apoptosis in CEF cells was examined.

Fusion of a sendai mutant deficient in HN protein (ts271) with cardiolipin liposomes
Virology, 1988Sendai mutant ts271 contains less than 5% of the amount of HN glycoprotein found in wild-type Sendai. Fusion of this mutant with cardiolipin liposomes revealed no differences from the wild-type virus with regard to specific activity, pH dependence, or radiation inactivation.

The Fusion Promotion Activity of the NDV HN Protein Does Not Correlate with Neuraminidase Activity
Virology, 1993Three activities, attachment, neuraminidase, and fusion promotion, have been associated with the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) protein encoded by paramyxoviruses such as Newcastle disease virus. The fusion promotion activity of the HN protein can be separated from its attachment activity by mutation (Sergel et al., 1993, Virology 193, 717-726).
