What's New? This study introduces a novel approach for detecting locally advanced esophageal carcinoma using cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) analysis through a highly sensitive fragmentome assay. Unlike traditional sequencing‐based methods that are limited by the absence of specific mutations in esophageal tumors, our method offers an alternative by quantifying ...

Interferon-induction in mouse spleen cells by the Newcastle disease virus (NDV) HN protein.
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) envelope glycoproteins that are expressed at the surface of fixed NDV (Ploufragan strain)-infected chick fibroblasts induce interferon (IFN) in mouse spleen cells. HN protein appears to be involved, since an anti-HN monoclonal antibody (Mab 3115) reduces the IFN production to 6% at most.

Gut microbiome‐derived metabolites show promise in cancer research and therapy
The metabolites produced by the gut microbiome, which are subject to regulation by multiple factors, play a pivotal role in the progression of various types of cancer. These metabolites not only function as potential biomarkers for the early detection and monitoring of tumor development, but also actively participate in cancer therapeutic processes ...

Abstract Background Head and neck cancer represents the seventh most common cancer diagnosis globally. Maintaining sufficient nutrition is important for preventing malnutrition (undernutrition) and muscle wasting, which contribute to worse outcomes, although many patients are unable to maintain adequate oral intake throughout treatment.

ABSTRACT Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant plasma cell disorder that primarily presents with CRAB symptoms (calcium elevation, renal failure, anemia, and bone abnormalities). In rare cases, MM manifests with systemic complications like skin ulcers, which present management challenges. Here, we report a 78‐year‐old Japanese man with MM and refractory
