Existence of mutations in the homeodomain-encoding region of NKX2.5 gene in Iranian patients with tetralogy of Fallot

open access: yesJournal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2016
Background: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), the most common cyanotic heart defect and one of the most common congenital heart diseases, occurs mostly sporadically and nonsyndromically. The underlying molecular genetic mechanism is not known.

Specific Knockdown of Gene Expression in the Mature Rat Pineal Gland: The Cone‐Rod Homeodomain Transcription Factor Regulates Melatonin Synthesis In Vivo

open access: yesJournal of Pineal Research, Volume 78, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Melatonin is synthesised from tryptophan by the sequential action of enzymes that are highly expressed in the pineal gland. Homeobox gene‐encoded transcription factors typically control organ development; however, a set of homeobox genes is strongly expressed in the adult pineal gland.

The 3D genome of Gigaspora margarita unveils stable chromatin and nucleolar organization and symbiont‐dependent genome dynamics

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 5, Page 2799-2817, September 2026.
Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are widespread plant symbionts that enhance nutrient acquisition and influence ecosystem productivity. Previous chromosome‐level assemblies of the model species Rhizophagus irregularis revealed a two‐compartment genome architecture (active A and repressed B chromatin compartments), yet its conservation across ...

Transcriptional regulation of the human ALDH1A1 promoter by the oncogenic homeoprotein TLX1/HOX11

open access: yesHematology Reports, 2009
The homeoprotein TLX1, which is essential to spleen organogenesis and oncogenic when aberrantly expressed in immature T cells, functions as a bifunctional transcriptional regulator, being capable of activation or repression depending on cell type and/or ...

DNA-binding specificity of the S8 homeodomain

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1993
The murine S8 homeobox gene is expressed in a mesenchyme-specific pattern in embryos, as well as in mesodermal cell lines. The S8 homeodomain is overall similar to paired type homeodomains, but at position 50, which is crucial for specific DNA recognition, it contains a Gln, as is found in Antennapedia (Antp)-type homeodomains.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 8, Page 1933-1962, August 2026.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Threading Analysis of Prospero-Type Homeodomains

open access: yesIn Silico Biology: Journal of Biological Systems Modeling and Multi-Scale Simulation, 1999
The homeodomain is a common structural motif found in many transcription factors involved in cell fate determination during development. We have used threading analysis techniques to predict whether the atypical homeodomain of prospero (pros) family members could form the three-helical homeodomain structural motif, even though these proteins are not ...

Pangenome and Pan‐Transcriptome Analysis of the WOX Gene Family Reveals Evolutionary Conservation and Diversification in Alfalfa

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
In this study, we conducted the first integrated pangenome and pan‐transcriptome analysis of the WOX gene family in alfalfa using 24 high‐quality accessions and 43 transcriptome datasets. Our results reveal strong evolutionary conservation dominated by core and soft‐core members, clade‐specific diversification driven mainly by dispersed duplication ...

Beyond a Metabolite: Lactylation as a Pivotal Regulator of Colorectal Cancer Pathogenesis and Treatment Resistance

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
This review elucidates how lactylation, a novel histone modification driven by lactate, regulates colorectal cancer pathogenesis. We summarize its roles in tumor progression, metastasis, stemness, immunosuppression, and therapy resistance, and discusses the promising therapeutic strategies of targeting the lactylation pathway.

Genetics of Flooding Tolerance in an F2 Miscanthus sacchariflorus ssp. lutarioriparius × M. sinensis Population

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2026.
An experiment to map flooding tolerance in Miscanthus ×giganteus was conducted. Two phenotyping protocols (A and B) and different pipelines to call SNPs were used. TASSEL‐GBSv2 resulted in a genetic map with smaller QTL intervals than the other maps.
