Mutational Effects of Mobile Introns on the Mitochondrial Genomes of Metschnikowia Yeasts

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
It has been argued that DNA repair by homologous recombination in the context of endonuclease-mediated cleavage can cause mutations. To better understand this phenomenon, we examined homologous recombination following endonuclease cleavage in a native ...

Using single loxP sites to enhance homologous recombination: ts mutants in Sec1 of Dictyostelium discoideum.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
BackgroundDictyostelium discoideum amoebae are haploid and, as they share many features with animal cells, should be an ideal creature for studying basic processes such as cell locomotion.

Ultrafine anaphase bridges, broken DNA and illegitimate recombination induced by a replication fork barrier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Most DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in S- and G2-phase cells are repaired accurately by Rad51-dependent sister chromatid recombination. However, a minority give rise to gross chromosome rearrangements (GCRs), which can result in disease/death.

Genetics of DNA replication and homologous recombination in arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The integrity of genetic information of each cell is constantly subjected to various threats, originating from environmental and endogenous sources.

The anaphase promoting complex impacts repair choice by protecting ubiquitin signalling at DNA damage sites

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The choice between homologous recombination and non-homologous end-joining is largely influenced by cell cycle. Here the authors show that APCCdh1 promotes homologous recombination by removing USP1, allowing polyubiquitinated histones to recruit BRCA1.

Measuring Homologous Recombination Rates between Chromosomal Locations in Salmonella

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2019
Homologous recombination between two similar DNA molecules, plays an important role in the repair of double-stranded DNA breaks. Recombination can occur between two sister chromosomes, or between two locations of similar sequence identity within the same

A transient assay for recombination demonstrates that Arabidopsis SNM1 and XRCC3 enhance non-homologous recombination

open access: yes, 2011
Replacement of endogenous genes by homologous recombination is rare in plants; the majority of genetic modifications are the result of transforming DNA molecules undergoing random genomic insertion by way of non-homologous recombination.

Plant DNA Recombinases: A Long Way to Go

open access: yesJournal of Nucleic Acids, 2010
DNA homologous recombination is fundamental process by which two homologous DNA molecules exchange the genetic information for the generation of genetic diversity and maintain the genomic integrity.

Replication dynamics of recombination-dependent replication forks

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Replication forks that are stalled at obstacles on the DNA template can be restarted by homologous recombination. Here, the authors show replication dynamics during homologous recombination-dependent replication fork restart by combining polymerase usage

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
