The effect of turmeric (Curcumin) supplementation on cytokine and inflammatory marker responses following 2 hours of endurance cycling [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 2015
Endurance exercise induces IL-6 production from myocytes that is thought to impair intracellular defence mechanisms. Curcumin inhibits NF-κB and activator protein 1, responsible for cytokine transcription, in cell lines. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of curcumin supplementation on the cytokine and stress responses following 2 h of

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Procalcitonin, Interleukin-1, Interleukin-10, Interleukin-13 and Tumor necrosis factor-alpha predictive value in the diagnosis of sepsis [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science, 2017
The present study is aimed to evaluate the role of some markers in the diagnosis of sepsis among SIRS (systemic inflammatory response syndrome) patients. The study included 180 patients with SIRS criteria within 24 hour of admission.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Relationship of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure and heart rate with markers of hepatic function in cirrhotic patients

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology, 2010
Background There is evidence that in cirrhotic patients, certain hemodynamic parameters, such as blood pressure and heart rate, are related to the severity of liver disease.

Exploring Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is one of the most common form of dementia occurring in elderly population worldwide. Currently Aβ42, tau and p-tau in the cerebrospinal fluid is estimated for confirmation of AD. CSF which is being used as the potent source for

GENERATION OF MOUSE INDUCED PLURIPOTENT STEM CELLS BY PROTEIN TRANSDUCTION. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Somatic cell reprogramming has generated enormous interest after the first report by Yamanaka and his coworkers in 2006 on the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from mouse fibroblasts. Here we report the generation of stable iPSCs from

One-hour test for estimating intestinal absorption of calcium by using stable strontium as a marker

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1994
Abstract Intestinal absorption of calcium is a relevant marker in a broad spectrum of diseases; however, its determination in clinical practice is difficult. Our aim was to design a simple test for this based on stable strontium (88Sr).

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Reconstruction of vertical and L-shaped ancient Egyptian sundials and methods for measuring time

open access: yes, 2014
The article presents the results of the study of design features of vertical and L-shaped ancient Egyptian sundials. With the help of astronomical methods were developed their models, based on which the reconstruction of a sundial was held.
