Natalizumab and HSV meningitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of NeuroVirology, 2011
Natalizumab (Tysabri, Biogen Idec and Elan Pharmaceuticals) is a monoclonal antibody approved for use in patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS) as well as moderate to severe Crohn's disease. We report the first case of a patient with a history of MS, on monthly natalizumab, who developed HSV-2 meningitis.

Coacervates Made of Elastin‐Like Polypeptides Fused with Melanocyte‐Stimulating Hormone and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein Enhance Skin Wound Healing in Spinal Cord‐Injured Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pressure skin wounds are frequent complications after spinal cord injury (SCI), with impaired healing due to vascular and immune deficits. Elastin‐like polypeptides (ELP) fused to α‐MSH (MSH‐ELP) or MCP‐1 (MCP‐ELP) are developed and tested on these wounds. The resulting nanoparticles are non‐toxic and bioactive, and they enhance macrophage recruitment,

Regulation of alphaherpesvirus infections by the ICP0 family of proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Immediate-early protein ICP0 of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) is important for the regulation of lytic and latent viral infection. Like the related proteins expressed by other alphaherpesviruses, ICP0 has a zinc-stabilized RING finger domain that ...

DEFECTIVE HSV-SPECIFIC IMMUNITY FOLLOWING NEONATAL HSV ENCEPHALITIS [PDF]

open access: yesPediatric Research, 1984
With effective anti-viral therapy increasing numbers of infants are surviving neonatal herpes simplex virus infections. Some survivors have recurrent HSV skin lesions, suggesting a relative deficiency of their HSV-specific immunity. To test this we used limiting dilution assays to determine the frequency of HSV specific T lymphocytes in the blood of ...

Mapping the Cerebral Organoid Landscape: A Systematic Review of Preclinical 3D Models in Neuroscience

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Cerebral organoids are transforming brain research, yet the field remains fragmented. This comprehensive systematic review maps 738 studies published between 2014 and 2024 to uncover trends, gaps, and opportunities across neuroscience. Introducing OrganoidMap—an interactive, open‐access platform to explore and compare models—this work enables ...

Chronic inflammation evoked by pathogenic stimulus during carcinogenesis

open access: yes4 open, 2019
A pathogenic (biological or chemical) stimulus is the earliest information received by a cell that can result in the disruption of homeostasis with consequent development of disease.

Digital Microneedles for Multiplexed Transdermal Sensing via Fluorescent QR Codes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Digital fluorescent microneedles encode biochemical information in skin into scannable QR codes through threshold‐activated probes that generate binary on/off signals. By transforming analog fluorescence into discrete digital patterns, this platform enables calibration‐free, multiplexed transdermal sensing of physiologically relevant biomarkers ...

Deciphering novel host-herpesvirus interactions by proteomics

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2012
Over the years, a vast array of information concerning the interactions of viruses with their hosts has been collected. However, recent advances in proteomics and other system biology techniques suggest these interactions are far more complex than ...

HSV image classification of ancient script on copper Kintamani inscriptions using GLRCM and SVM

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi dan Sistem Komputer, 2020
The problem of inscription physical damage as one of the historical heritages can be overcome using an image processing technique. The purpose of this study is to design a segmentation application for ancient scripts on inscriptions to recognize the ...
