Addressing false negatives and positives in eDNA studies

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 1977-2008, July 2026.
Abstract Environmental DNA (eDNA) has revolutionized the study of ecology and biodiversity, enabling species detection without direct observation in the environment. However, the implications of detection errors, specifically false positives and false negatives, are poorly reported in eDNA studies, significantly hindering our understanding of the ...

Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus: A persistent seed‐borne threat to cucurbits

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 1, July 2026.
Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) is a highly stable, seed‐borne tobamovirus that threatens global cucurbit production. Its efficient mechanical and seed transmission, long‐term environmental persistence, and the spread of Clade II CGMMV isolates drive its rapid dissemination and cause severe yield losses.

Detection and molecular characterisation of beet chlorosis virus in sugar beet in the Czech Republic

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 189, Issue 1, July 2026.
Beet chlorosis virus (BChV) was detected for the first time in Czech sugar beet, and its diversity was assessed. One‐enzyme RTX‐PCR screened 37 symptomatic plants from 15 fields, and BChV was found in 12 plants. Twelve isolates were confirmed by Sanger sequencing of the readthrough domain (RTD), while one representative isolate was sequenced by high ...

An Aging Clock Based on Immune Repertoire Features: COVID‐19 Accelerates Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
We systematically profiled TCR/BCR repertoires in Chinese individuals and paired COVID‐19 samples, revealed aging‐driven remodeling and COVID‐accelerated immune senescence, and built a reliable immune repertoire aging clock for immune senescence evaluation.

Evidence for a Two‐Step Model for Activation of GPR25 by the Chemoattractant CXCL17

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 139, Issue 1, July 2026.
ABSTRACT CXCL17 was recently reported to activate GPR25, a receptor expressed by T‐regulatory cells. Although classified as a chemokine, the activity of CXCL17 is ablated by minor C‐terminal truncation, suggesting a novel mode of receptor activation. We set out to test this hypothesis by mutagenesis. GPR25 was expressed in the murine pre‐B cell line L1.
