Modeling viral infectious diseases and development of antiviral therapies using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived systems [PDF]
The recent biotechnology breakthrough of cell reprogramming and generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which has revolutionized the approaches to study the mechanisms of human diseases and to test new drugs, can be exploited to generate ...

Deriving Cardiomyocytes from Human Amniocytes [PDF]
ABSTRACT Many forms of congenital heart disease (CHD) have high morbidity-mortality rates and require challenging surgeries. Human amniocytes have important stem cell characteristics and could potentially provide patient-specific tissue for repairs of some types of CHDs.

Size‐Modulated Mesoderm‐Endoderm Divergence and Myocardial Cavitation in Micropatterned Cardioids
Micropatterned cardioids, CRISPR‐engineered reporter hiPSCs, deep‐tissue imaging, and single‐cell RNA sequencing are integrated to model mesoderm‐endoderm co‐development. Heart‐foregut crosstalk promotes single large cavitation inside cardioids, resembling early heart chamber formation. ABSTRACT The human heart, originating from the splanchnic mesoderm,

A Nanoparticle‐Integrated Complete Manufacturing Pipeline of Chemically Engineered Exosomes
We report a novel manufacture technology of chemically engineered exosomes. The four steps of manufacturing, i.e., biogenesis, loading, isolation, and storage, are integrated by the use of a nanoparticle. The manufacture technology incorporates three innovative components, i.e., a new nano‐bio effect, a new composite nanoparticle, and a new isolation ...

Electrical coupling between ventricular myocytes and myofibroblasts in the infarcted mouse heart [PDF]
Aims: Recent studies have demonstrated electrotonic coupling between scar tissue and the surrounding myocardium in cryoinjured hearts. However, the electrical dynamics occurring at the myocyte-nonmyocyte interface in the fibrotic heart remain ...

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.
