The ciliated human keratinocyte
Journal of Ultrastructure Research, 1984Human keratinocytes were investigated for the presence of single cilia. Almost all basal keratinocytes were found to carry a single cilium in normal, occluded, and psoriatic skin. The ciliary structure was progressively reduced in keratinocytes approaching the surface. No remnants of the ciliary apparatus were found in the granular layer.

CD24 expression on human keratinocytes
Experimental Dermatology, 1998Abstract: CD24 or Nectadrin is a cell surface glycoprotein expressed in pre‐B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, neurons, muscle cells and carcinoma cells. Its function is not completely known, but it has been suggested that it is involved in cell adhesion and signalling.

Culture techniques for human keratinocytes
Burns, 1992The two main approaches developed for in vitro culture of human keratinocytes are reviewed and discussed. The older technique is based on the use of a serum-containing medium and of a feeder-layer of lethally irradiated mouse fibroblasts; the second relies upon serum-free media, in the absence of a feeder-layer.

Characterization of human keratinocyte
International Journal of Cancer, 1981AbstractIntraspecific human cell hybrids were created by fusing normal epidermal keratinocytes with carcinoma (HeLa) cells. All of the hybrids were epithelial in morphology and exhibited a bright cytoskeletal pattern after indirect immunofluorescent labelling by antibody against keratin.

Isolation and Culture of Human Keratinocytes
2019Culturing keratinocytes to form coherent epithelial tissue sheets has improved the treatment of extensively burned patients. Keratinocyte culture is also used to investigate various cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in different skin pathologies.

Tissue Engineering Part A, 2011
Over the last several years, our in vitro and in vivo studies have focused on optimizing the use of fibrin to deliver cells. We have shown that some three-dimensional (3D) fibrin constructs with specific fibrinogen and thrombin concentration support robust proliferation of normal human dermal fibroblasts, whereas different fibrinogen and thrombin ...

Heat evolution of cultured human keratinocytes
Experientia, 1986The heat production of normal and transformed human epidermal keratinocytes precultured in Petriperm tissue culture dishes was measured calorimetrically. For this purpose, the membrane at the bottom of the culture dish was cut out aseptically and put into a microcalorimeter vessel with the cell layer inwards.

Protease in Normal Human Epidermal Keratinocytes
Drug and Chemical Toxicology, 1998An in vitro normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEK) model was used to study and to characterize the protease stimulated by the mustards 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulphide (CEES), 2-chloro-N-(2-chloroethyl)-N-methylethanamine hydrochloride (nitrogen mustard, HN2), and Bis-2-chloroethyl sulfide (sulfur mustard, HD).

Arsenate suppression of human keratinocyte programming
Mutation Research/Reviews in Mutation Research, 1997The human keratinocyte line SCC-9 has been used as a model for arsenate-induced perturbations of differentiation. Growth of these cells in 10 microM arsenate permitted the cultures to reach confluence, but prevented expression of 6 markers of suprabasal differentiation (involucrin, loricrin, filaggrin, spr 1, keratin 1 and keratin 10) as assayed by ...
