Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Interferon-alpha treatment rapidly clears Hepatitis E virus infection in humanized mice

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Antiviral treatment options for chronic Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) infections are limited and immunological determinants of viral persistence remain largely unexplored.

Mouse Models for Human Herpesviruses

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
More than one hundred herpesviruses have been isolated from different species so far, with nine infecting humans. Infections with herpesviruses are characterized by life-long latency and represent a significant challenge for human health. To investigate the consequences of infections and identify novel treatment options, in vivo models are of ...

Mechanoluminescent HOF Nanotransducers Enabled Sono‐Optogenetics in Parkinsonian Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a mechanoluminescent system utilizing porous hydrogen‐bonded organic frameworks (HOFs) as a toolkit for focused ultrasound‐triggered, non‐invasive light delivery to the deep brain in rats. This approach enables the specific activation of PV‐GPe neurons in dopamine‐depleted Parkinson's disease rat models, resulting in a comparable alleviation

A novel "humanized mouse" model for autoimmune hepatitis and the association of gut microbiota with liver inflammation

open access: yes, 2015
Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) in humans is a severe inflammatory liver disease characterized by interface hepatitis, the presence of circulating autoantibodies, and hyper‐gammaglobulinemia.

HIV Replication in Humanized IL-3/GM-CSF-Transgenic NOG Mice

open access: yesPathogens, 2019
The development of mouse models that mimic the kinetics of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection is critical for the understanding of the pathogenesis of disease and for the design of novel therapeutic strategies. Here, we describe the dynamics of

High Humidity Exacerbates Psoriasiform Skin Disease Relapse by Increasing Tissue‐Resident Memory T Cells via Altering Skin Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrated that high humidity worsened psoriasis relapse in murine psoriasiform skin inflammation by increasing skin‐resident memory CD8+ cells via upregulating IL‐15Rα on keratinocytes. The increases in IL‐15Rα and memory CD8+ cells were attributed to S. nepalensis and its metabolite ADMA in skin exposed to high humidity.

Sensitive Detection of Measles Virus Infection in the Blood and Tissues of Humanized Mouse by One-step Quantitative RT-PCR

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Live attenuated measles virus (MV) has long been recognized as a safe and effective vaccine, and it has served as the basis for development of various MV-based vaccines. However, because MV is a human-tropic virus, the evaluation of MV-based vaccines has
