Telephone interference criteria for HVDC transmission lines

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1989
The telephone interference caused by a transmission line is primarily characterized by the equivalent line disturbance current defined as: le=?n (Cn ยท In)2 where Cn = C-message weighting factor for the n:th harmonic ln = residual line current of n:th harmonic For many HVdc lines, particularly in North America, this current has been required to be < 270

Lightning model for HVDC transmission lines

10th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2010). Managing the Change, 2010
In the paper, the complete lightning model for HVDC transmission lines is presented, and the model is divided into five parts: lightning discharging model, insulator string flashover model, arrester model, tower model and conductor/ground wires model. The proposed lightning model was successfully tested in the PSCAD/EMTDC software.

Neutral Line Protection System for HVDC Transmission

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1986
This paper described the principle of fault detection and its simulator study, principal circuitry, field test results and field performance records on the neutral line protection system for an HVDC transmission system. In the protection system, 125 Hz ac current injected to the neutral line is utilized as a pilot current to detect the neutral line ...

Transient Simulations for HVDC Transmission Lines

International Review on Modelling and Simulations (IREMOS), 2015
A comprehensive methodology for transient studies of HVDC lines for interconnected AC power systems is proposed as a useful tool for its design and operation. This methodology is based on frequency dependent modelling of HVDC transmission lines and a full modelling of their associated equipment in order to do transient simulations.

Conductor surface voltage gradients on bipolar HVDC transmission lines

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1976
The method of successive images is used to obtain accurate values of maximum surface voltage gradients for practical HVdc transmission lines. The results are presented in the form of graphs of gradient factors as a function of the principal line parameters.
