The complete mitochondrial genome of the hybrid grouper Epinephelus akaara♀ × Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ [PDF]
In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Epinephelus akaara × Epinephelus lanceolatus has been presented. The mitochondrial genome is 16,795 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA, 22 tRNA, and a D-loop region. The phylogenetic analysis by neighbour-joining (MJ) method showed that the hybrid grouper has the closer ...

Waif or hybrid? Observation records of rare coloration grouper in Djibouti
Abstract We observed groupers with an unusual color pattern in Ghoubet-Al-Kharab Bay, Djibouti, on two occasions in 2014 and 2020. It matches the field observation of a juvenile Cephalopholis formosa in India in 1980. If this is the case, our observation represents a major range extension for C. formosa.

Isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in hybrid giant tiger grouper
The hybrid giant tiger grouper is a fish that has considerable commercial value and has become increasingly important for aquaculture in South East Asia since 2008. In order to prevent any reduction in genetic diversity in hybrid grouper as a result of aquaculture, we have identified 21 microsatellite markers that can be used to estimate genetic ...

Molecular markers for parentage analysis in the grouper F1 hybrid Epinephelus coioides × Epinephelus lanceolatus (Actinopterygii: Perciformes: Serranidae) [PDF]
Background. The aquaculture industry is driven by the need to develop novel interspecific hybrids with improved culture characteristics, however currently no molecular markers are available for the validation of F1 hybrids in the case of groupers.

To study the effects of acute ammonia stress on the poisoning reaction of the hybrid grouper (♀ Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂ E. lanceolatu), 300 healthy grouper juveniles with an initial body weight of 51.4 ± 2.57 g were selected for an acute ammonia ...

Temperature effect on gastric emptying time of hybrid grouper (Epinephelus spp.) [PDF]
Knowledge of fish gastric emptying time is a necessary component for understanding the fish feeding rates, energy budgets and commercial production of fishes in aquaculture. The hybrid grouper Epinephelus spp. is getting popular as a culture species in Malaysia for their faster growth rate compared to commonly cultured grouper species (giant grouper ...
