Molecular markers for parentage analysis in the grouper F1 hybrid Epinephelus coioides × Epinephelus lanceolatus (Actinopterygii: Perciformes: Serranidae) [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2014
Background. The aquaculture industry is driven by the need to develop novel interspecific hybrids with improved culture characteristics, however currently no molecular markers are available for the validation of F1 hybrids in the case of groupers.

Transcriptomic responses to RGNNV and Vibrio alginolyticus infection in the spleen of hybrid grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus♀)

open access: yesComparative Immunology Reports
The hybrid grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × E. fuscoguttatus♀) is a novel and commercially important fish for mariculture in China. Recent years, the outbreak of viral and bacterial diseases have caused huge losses of hybrid grouper culture.

Ammonia Toxicity Induces Oxidative Stress, Inflammatory Response and Apoptosis in Hybrid Grouper (♀ Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂ E. lanceolatu)

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
To study the effects of acute ammonia stress on the poisoning reaction of the hybrid grouper (♀ Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × ♂ E. lanceolatu), 300 healthy grouper juveniles with an initial body weight of 51.4 ± 2.57 g were selected for an acute ammonia ...

Sexual Maturation and Gonad Development in Tiger Grouper(Epinephelus Fuscoguttatus) X Giant Grouper (E. Lanceolatus) Hybrid [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Aquaculture Research & Development, 2014
The objective of this study is to determine the possibility of sexual maturation of tiger grouper x giant grouper (TGGG) hybrid. Specimens of TGGG were reared in the hatchery for six years in 150-tonne tanks equipped with a water recirculation system. Observations on maturation were conducted.

Temperature effect on gastric emptying time of hybrid grouper (Epinephelus spp.) [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2014
Knowledge of fish gastric emptying time is a necessary component for understanding the fish feeding rates, energy budgets and commercial production of fishes in aquaculture. The hybrid grouper Epinephelus spp. is getting popular as a culture species in Malaysia for their faster growth rate compared to commonly cultured grouper species (giant grouper ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
