2030 Ambitions for Hydrogen, Clean Hydrogen, and Green Hydrogen

open access: yesASEC 2023, 2023
Hydrogen production has been dominated by gray hydrogen (hydrogen produced from fossil fuels without carbon capture). Historical data for 2019–2021 show nearly steady global production of and demand for hydrogen, with an annual average of 92 Mt (million tonnes) for each.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

The effect of salubrinal on the endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway in heat‐stressed spermatogonial cells in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigates the protective role of salubrinal against heat‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in mouse spermatogenic cells (GC1 and GC2). By modulating the ER stress pathway, salubrinal alleviates cellular stress and supports spermatogenic cell survival, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for heat‐related infertility.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Microwave-assisted synthesis and catalytic activity of nano-sized molybdenum carbide in naphthalene hydrogenation

open access: yesHeliyon
Nanosized molybdenum carbide (β-Mo2C) synthesized by microwave irradiation method was applied for catalytic hydrogenation of naphthalene. Varying the synthesis conditions affects not only the phase composition and physicochemical properties of the ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
