First Steps toward the Design of Peptides that Influence the Intracellular Palmitoylation Machinery

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Herein, DC peptides consisting of the cell‐penetrating peptide sC18* and a Asp–His–His–Cys (DHHC) motif derived from human ZDHHC palmitoyltransferase are highlighted. DC peptides demonstrate high cellular internalization into various cellular models, exert cytotoxic effects against cancerous cells, and alter the function and localization of known ...

Bean rust resistance in the Guatemalan climbing bean germplasm collection

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 4, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is the main source of protein, fiber, and iron for Guatemala's poorest households. Bean rust (caused by Uromyces appendiculatus (Pers) Unger) can reduce seed yield up to 100%. There is limited information about U. appendiculatus virulence diversity in Guatemala, especially in the mid‐altitude highlands.

FLOT1 Is a Novel Serum Biomarker of Ovarian Cancer Targeted by N6‐methyladenosine Modification Inhibition

open access: yesCell Biology International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ovarian cancer (OC) is a deadly disease and lacks a precise marker for diagnosis worldwide. Our previous work has shown the overexpression of flotillin‐1 (FLOT1) in OC tissue. To improve diagnostic sensitivity and accuracy, we evaluated the serum level of FLOT1 in OC patients and found that the serum concentration of FLOT1 as well as CA125 was

Acetylation‐Deacetylation‐Driven Natural Product Biosynthesis

open access: yesChemistryEurope, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the role of acetylation‐deacetylation in natural product biosynthesis, including acetylation followed by deacetylation after several biosynthetic steps, acetylation‐mediated rearrangement, acetylation‐triggered elimination, and the acetylation cycle as a regulatory mechanism. These processes are vital for the formation of complex
