Structural insights into xyloglucan recognition by an ABC transporter from a Gram‐positive, thermophilic bacterium

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Athe_2052 is an ABC transporter substrate‐binding protein that recognizes xyloglucan heptasaccharide (XXXG), a soluble breakdown product of plant xyloglucan. The crystal structure of Athe_2052, together with binding assays and computational modeling, shows how XXXG is recognized by this sugar transporter.

Bio‐active designed peptide for hair keratin strengthening

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Bioactive tripeptides through in silico screening revealed KCV (Tripeptide‐132) as the most promising keratin‐targeting candidate. Experimental studies confirmed its superior hair‐strengthening performance with 44% tensile strength enhancement, 50% breakage reduction, improved surface integrity and fibre penetration.

Targeted keratin repair: A plant‐based approach to hair strength and surface restoration

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Application of Avena strigosa seed extract may reinforce keratin bonding, restoring hair fibre integrity by promoting intramolecular interactions at damaged sites of keratin proteins. Abstract Objective Chemical and thermal stress disrupts the intramolecular and intermolecular interactions that stabilize hair keratin, leading to structural degradation ...

Influence of Tapered‐End and Round‐End Bristle Designs on the Abrasive Enamel Wear Using Toothpastes With High Discrepancies in Abrasiveness

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose The aim of this in vitro study was to investigate the influence of bristle end design of toothbrushes and the relative enamel abrasivity (REA) of used toothpaste on the resulting abrasive enamel wear. Materials and Methods A total of 160 bovine enamel samples were allocated into eight groups (n = 20) and surface topography was recorded

Effect of Whitening Dentifrices on Short‐Term Color Stability and Tooth Sensitivity After In‐Office Bleaching: A Randomized Single‐Blind Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This randomized, single‐blind clinical trial evaluated the effect of whitening dentifrices on short‐term color stability and tooth sensitivity after in‐office bleaching. Materials and Methods A total of 120 participants treated with 40% hydrogen peroxide were randomly assigned to six dentifrice groups (n = 20): one conventional ...

In Vitro Gastrointestinal Digestion of Calanus finmarchicus Products: Amino Acid Composition, Degree of Hydrolysis, Antioxidant Capacity, and Antidiabetic Activity

open access: yesMarine Drugs
Marine rest raw materials are often undervalued or wasted despite their nutrient and bioactive composition. Calanus finmarchicus, harvested primarily for its omega-3-rich oil, yields a side-stream protein hydrolysate, C.

Evaluating 20% and 40% Inclusion of Sugary Former Foods in Pig Diets: Effects on Growth Performance, Feeding Behaviour, Carcass and Meat Quality Traits

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Former food products (FFP) are food industry leftovers that can be used as feed ingredients. We investigated the effects of sugary FFP on growth, feeding behaviour, carcass and meat quality of pigs fattened to a heavy weight. Three inclusion levels were tested: 0% (FFP‐0 = control), 20% (FFP‐20) and 40% (FFP‐40) FFP in grower (20–60 kg BW ...

A Nutrient‐Responsive LuxR Regulator Orchestrates Effector Gene Expression Across the Legionella Genus

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
LexR1 is a LuxR‐type regulator that links nutrient sensing to effector gene expression in Legionella. Activated by a casamino acid‐derived ligand, LexR1 directly controls multiple effector genes using a conserved regulatory element present in numerous putative effectors across different Legionella species.

Evolution‐Inspired Engineering of Diterpene Biosynthesis via Chloroplast Genome Modification

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Terpenes constitute the largest and most structurally diverse class of plant secondary metabolites, with critical roles in plant‐environment interactions and broad industrial applications. Although nuclear genome engineering of terpene pathways has been extensively explored, chloroplast genome engineering remains largely undeveloped, with all ...

Plant‐protein supplementation improves thermoregulatory responses and ameliorates markers of intestinal damage during exercise in the heat

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exercise in the heat often causes gastrointestinal (GI) disturbances, which can impair performance. Single amino acid supplementation can attenuate gut damage and enhance exercise tolerance; however, the effectiveness of innate amino acid blends from plant‐based proteins remains underexplored.
