Ferritin in the fungus Phycomyces [PDF]
The iron-protein ferritin has been purified from mycelium, sporangiophores, and spores of the fungus Phycomyces blakesleeanus. It has a protein-to-iron ratio of 5, a sedimentation coefficient of 55S, a buoyant density in CsCl of 1.82 g/cm3, and the ...

This study explores how iron and manganese oxides transform sewage sludge into plant biostimulants during composting. Non‐targeted identification reveals the main species of plant biostimulants. Metagenomic analysis reveals that 2‐line ferrihydrite specifically enriches microbial genes for biosynthesis, boosting plant‐growth promoters.

Three types of CQDs are prepared from cellulose and its derivatives via hydrothermal carbonization. An increase in the atomic O/C ratio from 0.25 to 0.61 results in a nearly seven‐fold enhancement in QY. DFT calculations verify this mechanism. Further, this study elucidates the formation pathways of cellulose‐derived CQDs and proposes a fluorescence ...

The effect of enzymatic hydrolysis of a dietary protein on the excretion of urinary nitrogen metabolites : a thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Nutritional Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Floppy disc in back pocket - not copied/unreadableHydrolysed milk proteins are used for many purposes in human nutrition. Although it is assumed that the nutritive value of a protein hydrolysate is the same, or even superior to the corresponding intact ...

A luciferase is used as biosensor for aldehydes, produced enzymatically from different monomeric building blocks of plastics like polyurethanes (PUs). The screening platform is used to monitor esterase, amidase, and urethanase activity and to guide the selection of enzyme variants with improved hydrolytic activities toward difficult to hydrolyze ...

ABSTRACT The impressive growth in the global market for plant‐based foods has a direct impact on the food industry, requiring greater efforts in product reformulation for the replacement of animal‐based ingredients, including proteins. The replacement of animal‐derived proteins frequently applied as emulsifiers in food formulations, for example ...
