Update of the list of qualified presumption of safety (QPS) recommended microbiological agents intentionally added to food or feed as notified to EFSA 21: Suitability of taxonomic units notified to EFSA until September 2024

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract The qualified presumption of safety (QPS) process was developed to provide a safety assessment approach for microorganisms intended for use in food or feed chains. In the period covered by this Statement, no new information was found that would change the status of previously recommended QPS taxonomic units (TUs).

Vitamin D as a predictor of clinical response among patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 975-981, August 2024.
In our meta‐analysis, patients with higher 25‐OH vitamin D levels before CRT implantation had better CRT response rates, while vitamin D insufficiency was linked to a higher risk of nonresponse. These findings underscore the importance of monitoring and managing vitamin D levels in patient with CRT.

Measurement of 25-Hydroxycholecalciferol in the Bovine

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1976
Bovine plasma 25-hydroxycholecalciferol was estimated by rapid protein binding assay. Serum-binding proteins in the assay were from rats deficient in vitamin D and from normal rats; no differences existed in standard curves. Nanograms 25-hydroxycholecalciferol in eight cows averaged 45.5 +/- 12.2 ml of plasma.

Enhancing the texture and nutritional value of pumpkin dessert/jam through vacuum impregnation pre‐treatment with calcium and vitamin D3

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 12, Issue 7, Page 4745-4760, July 2024.
The infusion of calcium and vitamin D3 into pumpkin slices was more efficient and faster with the use of vacuum impregnation pre‐treatment compared to immersion. The incorporation of calcium and vitamin D3 into fruit slices enhanced the texture and nutritional value of pumpkin dessert, while the use of calcium oxide did not introduce any unpleasant ...
